The honest summary: Nuremberg has no gay hotels and no gay-run guesthouses that we could find. Labels like "gay-friendly" on booking sites are just labels. Hotel Victoria, for example, says nothing about it on its own site. Same-sex couples rarely have problems at mainstream hotels here, so choose by location. The gay bars are spread between the old town, the Südstadt and Plärrer, and the main station sits in the middle of all three.

By the main station (best for the bars)

    • Park Plaza (Bahnhofstraße 5) is a chain hotel beside the station. Google gives it 4.5 from about 1,700 reviews. Savoy Bar and the Achilleus sauna are both about 10 to 15 minutes' walk away.
    • The Cloud One (Bahnhofsplatz 1) is the design-led upscale brand of Motel One, opposite the station.
    • Leonardo Royal (Bahnhofsplatz 3) is a large chain hotel across the square from the station, with 4.5 from more than 2,000 reviews.

    Inside the walls

    • Hotel Victoria (Königstraße 80) is a four-star hotel just inside the Königstor, rated 4.7 on Google. The old-town bars are a short walk away.
    • Five Reasons (Frauentormauer 42) offers dorms and private rooms just inside the city wall, with a bar and a guest kitchen. Google rates it 4.6, which is high for a hostel.
    • Hotel Continental (Luitpoldstraße 14–16) is close to La Bas and the old town, but its Google reviews average only 2.5, so read recent ones first.

    Plärrer and further out

    • Park Inn by Radisson (Sandstraße 2–8) is next door to Fliederlich, the queer centre, and close to DATE 31. Plärrer U-Bahn is outside.
    • ibis budget City Messe, A1 Hostel and 24 Seven Hotel are budget options out towards the Messe trade-fair grounds or the west of the city. They're cheap except during fairs, but you'll need the U-Bahn or a car to reach the bars.

When to book early

Prices jump during big trade fairs (the toy fair in late January or early February is the biggest), on CSD weekend in early August and during the Christkindlesmarkt, from late November to 24 December. If you're coming for CSD, book as soon as the dates are announced at csd-nuernberg.de.
