Gay-Friendly Hotels in West Hollywood: The Honest 2026 Guide
The honest summary: West Hollywood has no gay-only hotel any more. The San Vicente Inn, the old gay resort, is now San Vicente Bungalows, a private members' club. What WeHo does have is a lot of gay-friendly hotels within walking distance of the bars. The gay scene is on Santa Monica Boulevard (the Rainbow District), not on the Sunset Strip. So the question is how far you want to walk, and whether you mind walking uphill at 2am.
On the boulevard
Ramada Plaza West Hollywood (8585 Santa Monica Blvd) is the most LGBTQ-focused option. It's an IGLTA member and sits right on the boulevard, about ten minutes' walk east of The Abbey. The rooms are standard chain rooms, and reviews average 3.5, so treat it as a practical base.
Quiet side streets, short walk
- Le Parc Suite Hotel (733 N West Knoll Dr): all suites with balconies, a few blocks south of the strip.
- Montrose West Hollywood (900 Hammond St), the former Le Montrose: all suites, some with fireplaces and kitchenettes.
- Chamberlain (1000 Westmount Dr): all suites with a rooftop pool, on a residential street.
- Prices jump for WeHo Pride (early June) and Halloween (31 October). Book months ahead for those dates.
- Most WeHo hotels add a resort or destination fee and charge for parking. Check the total before booking.
- Burbank airport (BUR) is about 11 miles away and LAX about 13-14 miles.
On or near the Sunset Strip
These are 15 to 20 minutes' walk downhill to the bars (and uphill back): Andaz (8401 Sunset, the old "Riot House"), Mondrian (8440 Sunset, Skybar), Best Western PLUS Sunset Plaza (8400 Sunset, free breakfast) and the luxury Sunset Marquis (1200 Alta Loma Rd). All are mainstream and gay-friendly.
