Gay Strasburgo 2026

The honest summary: Strasbourg has a small, real LGBTQ+ scene and no gay district. There are two gay bars, Canapé Queer near the cathedral and Golden Gate on the edge of Petite France. There are three saunas (Equateur, Drak and Oxydo) and a sex club, L'Antr'acte. A busy community centre, La Station, runs something most days of the week. Pride is the June Marche des Visibilités. Strasbourg has about 294,000 people (INSEE 2023), is the seat of the European Parliament and the Council of Europe, and is 1h46 from Paris by TGV.

Where the scene actually is

There is no gay street. Most of what matters sits on or next to the Grande Île, the UNESCO-listed old town surrounded by the river Ill. Canapé Queer is on rue des Couples and La Station on rue des Écrivains, both a few minutes north of the cathedral. Golden Gate is on rue du Fossé-des-Tanneurs, on the western side of the island towards Petite France. The saunas are just outside the island: Equateur near the main station, Drak and L'Antr'acte together on rue Moll north-west of the centre, and Oxydo on place Clément to the south. Everything is walkable, and the tram covers the rest.

The Krutenau, the student quarter across the Ill to the south-east, comes up in some guides as the place for a younger, mixed crowd. Its bars are mainstream.

Bars and nights out

Canapé Queer (20 rue des Couples) is the main LGBTQ+ bar and the easiest first stop. Google lists it from early evening Monday to Saturday, until 01:30 early in the week and 04:00 from Thursday to Saturday, and closed on Sunday. The monthly Apéro Bears meets there on the first Tuesday of the month.

Golden Gate (63 rue du Fossé-des-Tanneurs) has been in gay guides since around 1999. It works as a café-bar during the day and a bar at night, with an older, mostly male crowd. It is closed on Sunday and Monday.

Beyond those two, nights out depend on events rather than venues. Studio Saglio, a mainstream electronic club south-east of the centre, hosted La Nuit des FestiGays, the Pride closing party, in 2026. Drag karaoke and shows turn up at Le Petit Tigre and Les Savons d'Hélène, and the bear group Grog'Nounours meets at the Café Grognon. Le Schluch (3 rue de l'Outre) is a classic old-town beer bar, not a gay bar, listed as LGBT-friendly by misterb&b and five minutes from Canapé Queer.

Saunas and the sex club

Sauna Equateur (5 rue de Rosheim) has been open since 1991 and is the only sauna that is men-only every day. Its site lists weekdays from 12:00 and weekends from 14:00, until 21:00. Entry is €22, with lower prices for under-27s and after 18:00.

Drak Sauna and L'Antr'acte share a building, Le Complex, at 2A rue Moll. Both are gay on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday and mixed on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Sunday afternoon at L'Antr'acte is a naked party. Le Complex closes for a few weeks each summer.

Cruising

Gay cruising sites list several Strasbourg parks, including the Parc de l'Orangerie, the Parc de la Citadelle and the Parc du Glacis. They are public parks used by families and joggers. Public sex is a criminal offence in France (article 222-32 of the penal code), so the legal options are L'Antr'acte and the saunas.

Community, health and support

La Station – Centre LGBTI d'Alsace (7 rue des Écrivains) opened in 2011 and turns 15 in November 2026. Its week includes French classes for LGBTQIA+ newcomers, legal help for LGBTQIA+ refugees, a media library, a Gays 45+ group, a trans support drop-in and board-game nights. Google lists it as open Tuesday to Saturday afternoons and evenings.

For sexual health, the CeGIDD at the Hôpital Civil offers free HIV and STI testing, PEP and PrEP, and AIDES (235 avenue de Colmar) does free rapid tests. SOS homophobie has an Alsace branch, reachable by email at sos-alsace@sos-homophobie.org. The city also lists L'Autre Cercle Alsace (LGBT+ people at work), the Pelicanto choir and Le Refuge Alsace, which helps young LGBT+ people who have been thrown out of home.

Pride and events

Strasbourg's Pride is the Marche des Visibilités, organised by FestiQueer, the association called FestiGays until 2026, which was founded in 2002. It closes a Mois des Visibilités that ran from 17 May to 21 June in 2026. The 24th march took place on Saturday 20 June 2026, starting at 14:00 from Place de l'Université after an associations' village that opened at 11:00. The prefecture counted about 6,000 marchers. The route was shortened because of the heatwave, and the march paid tribute to Noahm, a 19-year-old who died after an assault in Metz. The 2027 date had not been announced at the time of writing.

Other dates: the Monsieur Ours Alsace bear election is on 14 November 2026, and La Station celebrates its 15th anniversary the same evening. FémiGouin'Fest, a lesbian and queer film festival run by the Drama Queer Club with FAG Strasbourg, has been held in early October in past years. The Christmas market runs from 27 November to 24 December 2026. It is a mainstream event; an LGBTQIA+ makers' market, the Hotte Queer, has been held at Les Compotes in late November in past years.

Closed or changed: gone but still Googled

• Z Bar (9 rue de la Course): permanently closed on Google; older guides still list it.
• So Crazy and Spyl Bar Club (impasse de Londres): closed.
• Sauna Apollon (rue de l'Outre): no current source shows it exists. Equateur, Drak and Oxydo are the saunas.
• Le Gayot and L'Alchimiste: mainstream bars. Le Gayot is named after its square, Place du Marché-Gayot, not its crowd.
• Arc-en-Ciel Alsace: we could not find any trace of this association, and its website no longer exists.

Practical tips

Strasbourg-Entzheim airport (SXB) has a shuttle train to the main station that takes about nine minutes. EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg has more flights but is about 1h30 away by bus and train. The tram has six lines (A to F), and line D crosses the Rhine to Kehl in Germany. The 65-metre rainbow "Chemin des droits LGBTQIA+" on the station forecourt opened on 17 May 2023, and the city council passed a motion in June 2026 promising a memorial space for victims of LGBTQIA+-phobia.
