My experience at this hostel wasn't very good, mainly because of the cleanliness, which was the thing that bothered me the most during my stay. When I arrived, the bathroom was quite dirty. The room itself was okay for sleeping; the bed wasn't dirty, and they gave me a clean sheet to put on myself. I had no problem sharing the men's and women's bathrooms; it didn't bother me at all. However, the overall cleanliness of the place left much to be desired. The worst part for me was the kitchen. When I arrived, there were many dirty dishes and cutlery, as well as a very strong smell of spoiled food. When I opened the refrigerator, I saw several foods that had apparently been spoiled for days or even weeks. This made the environment very unpleasant for cooking or even sitting down to eat. The tables were also dusty, and I saw cats roaming around, so I was left with the feeling that the place was unhygienic. The staff, on the other hand, were very helpful. Whenever I needed help, I was well attended to. At one point, for example, I couldn't find any paper towels in the kitchen, I asked for help and they resolved it quickly. The guests were also easygoing, sociable, and polite. They even helped me with my luggage, so that was a plus. The place itself has potential. It's spacious, has an outdoor pool, a good vibe, and a more affordable price compared to other hostels in the area. The location isn't bad either—it's not the best, but it's reasonable. However, the environment seemed quite disorganized. Outside, there were many clothes scattered and hanging, which ended up giving a feeling of messiness. After I went to another hostel, I noticed this difference in the organization of the spaces even more. I also noticed mold marks on the bedroom window, and the environment was a bit stuffy. The fan worked, but I honestly don't even remember the air conditioning being on. It was bearable for sleeping, but not very comfortable. What struck me most negatively was realizing that, even after spending the night and returning the next morning, the bathroom was even dirtier. This gave me the feeling that there really wasn't a cleaning routine in place at the hostel. Honestly, I believe that if they improved the overall cleanliness and took better care of the organization and upkeep of the facilities, especially the kitchen and bathrooms, the hostel would have everything it needed to be an excellent place, because the people, the facilities, and the energy of the place are good. The biggest problem really was the lack of hygiene and organization.

Che Lagarto is a great option for relaxing after a day at the beach! My group and I arrived during what appeared to be the low season (April 28th and 29th), because it wasn't very crowded and we didn't have any problems waiting in line for the restrooms and showers, unlike what I'd read in other reviews. However, there aren't many restrooms. The rooms are fine, and the service is good too. The young man at reception was very kind and offered to store a delicate item under the reception desk for my girlfriend, but the receptionist was a little less attentive and returned it a few minutes later. The location is excellent, just steps from the bus terminal (I arrived there from Rio de Janeiro), and nearby there are small shops where you can buy things like hats and sunglasses, as well as places to eat.

The service from Charly, Santiago, and Paula was amazing. They're fantastic. The gentleman who works the night shift and cleans early in the morning was also excellent. All the staff were excellent. The mattresses were fantastic; you sleep like a log. The breakfast was spectacular, and the location is simply superb. I'll definitely be back. If there were six stars, I'd give it six without hesitation!

Good hostel. Good facilities. Good services. Fifth time here. I know it. This time I have to tell the hostel they should pay attention to the staff, because it's not pleasant to run into arrogant, cocky people who act like they're doing you a favor, and then, if there's a problem, they confront you aggressively and then gossip and make faces. We're here on vacation, we're not going to put up with bad attitudes and them inventing conflicts so a volunteer can show off.

I stayed at the hostel for 12 days. They are incredibly friendly, it has a great atmosphere, the cleanliness is excellent, and the common areas are very useful. I want to give a special mention to Santiago, Paula, Charlie, Sofia, and Chachy who made my stay wonderful and full of joy. Not to mention, it's right in the city center, so you can do everything from there 💕💕 I will always remember them fondly and hope to return soon 💘
