About this place Hotel Arts

Hotel Arts is Calgary's premier boutique hotel and one of the most genuinely LGBTQ+-welcoming properties in western Canada — a 185-room hotel on 12th Avenue SW in the Beltline that has built its identity around art, design, and inclusive hospitality in a city that has historically been more comfortable with corporate tower hotels than with boutique culture. The building is covered in commissioned murals; the interior is filled with original artwork; the pool and outdoor terrace are the best hotel amenity spaces in Calgary; and the Wild Rose restaurant is a serious dining destination. The 12th Avenue SW location puts Hotel Arts one block from the 17th Avenue strip and within walking distance of Twisted Element, Backlot, and the full concentration of Calgary's gay nightlife. For LGBTQ+ visitors to Calgary, Hotel Arts represents the combination of genuinely welcoming hospitality, excellent design, a pool for post-mountain recovery, and a location that could not be more convenient for the gay scene. The hotel has supported Calgary Pride and LGBTQ+ events over the years and its staff culture reflects a genuine commitment to inclusive service rather than corporate lip service. During Calgary Stampede, the pool and terrace at Hotel Arts become one of the city's most coveted locations — the intersection of the hotel's progressive culture and the city's most famous event.

Hotel located near down town, featuring a full range of amenities (swimming pool, fitness center, restaurant, conference room). Spacious rooms; courteous and professional staff.

Nice location, elevator is quick which I love. Staff are friendly and professional, and it seems well managed. Calgary itself was fantastic and this hotel added to that experience. I will look at this hotel as my first option when returning.

1 bad experience ruined our stay. The hotel staff are great! We came back to the hotel around 7:30pm and the poolside staff took our order for 1 bottle of champagne. Their was 3 tables and 2 waitresses working. I went to the washroom before the order by wife was put in, and we sat for 20 minutes. My wife went inside eventually and asked what's going on? A hotel staff Anna K took over and wanted to deliver some actual service. After she served us one of the unserving pool waitresses came over and said she should have served plastic champagne flutes on poolside. The girl was very hostile in her teaching approach about no glassware in the pool deck. To the point my wife stepped in and poured the champagne from the glassware to the plasticware. The real tick off was that the waitress that took the order and was never seen again until the bill was served (1 bottle not served by her) took a break, returned and asked to settle up for being missing for 30 minutes and no service. We were told we couldn't reward Anna K for her service because she works in a different compartment of the company so we asked for our bill to be billed to this compartment instead.
