***Cameo replied below. HERE IS MY REBUTTAL: I DID try and cancel within the free cancellation period. Their online reservation system did NOT work and wouldn't let me cancel. I left messages, no response. Eventually I was charged. And any info they give you about not having front desk staff or any way of talking to someone, was ONLY given to me in the confirmed reservation email. Check their website. No info on this at all. DO NOT BOOK HERE. THEY CAN ANSWER THIS REVIEW BUT THEY STILL CAN'T ANSWER A SINGLE EMAIL OR CALL REGARDING THIS FAILED 'FREE' CANCELLATION ATTEMPT*** This was the worst experience of all time. It gets 1 out of 5 because ZERO isn't an option. Before you book a room here, do yourself a favour and try to call them. Get even one person on the phone. You can't. I had to cancel a room but their system didn't work and no one would respond. Repeatedly. So I lose. It's loud, obnoxious and in the event that anything goes wrong, like the main door staying locked, you have no recourse. DO NOT BOOK HERE!

I thought this hotel was great until the code for the hotel lobby door did not work. It was 11 pm at night, and I tried the code several time. No sucess. First I called the emergency number, no answer. Then I sent a message, to which I received a response. To make a long story short, the person or bot accused me of not following the check-in instructions and made the problem out to be ME. I did follow the instructions. In the end, I was locked out of hotel room I paid for. I sat and waited for another guest. About 20 minutes later I was in. NO THANKS to the emergency line. I had hoped to go out in the morning and come back before checkout. That was a no, since my lobby door code was not working. THIS PLACE IS A BIG NO FROM ME. I PAID OVER $200/ TO STAY HERE AND WAS LOCKED OUT....NEVER AGAIN. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS POOR EXCUSE FOR A HOTEL

This was a weird experience. No staff on site but the self check-in was easy enough from my phone. Room was clean and had plenty of kitchen things, but the chairs were uncomfortable, and the only other seating were small, hard stools. The bed is an IKEA bedframe and is not anchored to anything, so sitting on it with your back against the headboard means the bed scoots across the floor. The headboard and bed frame also don't match, which means there's a gap the perfect size for your pillows to creep down in the night. The rugs don't have any non-slip backing and the floors are entirely polished concrete, so they slide around if you so much as look at them funny. Water pressure is good and the bathroom is nice enough, but the floor is entirely polished concrete in here as well, and the bottom of the shower does not seem to slope properly to the drain, which leaves standing water. Room came with coffee pods for the Keurig and earl grey tea bags, but no sugar packets or creamer. That said, it really is an excellent location if you plan to do anything downtown, plenty of restaurants and activities within walking distance.

DO NOT BOOK this room unless you are ok with pounding music until 2:00am.

The hotel has a fantastic location right in the city center. Contrary to negative reviews from other guests, check-in was incredibly smooth, and all access codes worked flawlessly. Self-check-in is standard in Europe, so I found the entire process simple and intuitive. The room itself and bathroom were spacious and sparkling clean. A huge plus was the fully equipped kitchen with all cutlery, a frying pan, microwave, and refrigerator, as well as the welcome touch of on-site coffee and tea. During my stay in May, the room was very quiet. Even if you can hear some outside noise, as some reviews mentioned, this is completely normal for a city center. If I visit Halifax again, I will definitely stay here!
