About this place Hotel Saint Cecilia

Hotel Saint Cecilia is the boutique hotel that best captures Austin's character for LGBTQ+ visitors — a property in the South Congress neighbourhood with a rock-and-roll aesthetic, a genuinely beautiful pool garden, and the kind of personality-forward hospitality that sets it apart from conventional luxury hotels. The hotel is named for the patron saint of music, and the music-oriented aesthetic runs through everything: the room design, the record players in each room, the staff culture, and the general atmosphere of a place that takes pleasure seriously. The South Congress location — south of the Colorado River from downtown, in the neighbourhood known as SoCo — puts Hotel Saint Cecilia within walking distance of South Congress Avenue's boutiques and restaurants and a short rideshare from the 4th Street gay strip. The hotel is explicitly welcoming of LGBTQ+ guests and has been adopted by the gay and creative communities as the Austin accommodation of choice. The pool garden is clothing-optional in practice and the general atmosphere is one of permissive sophistication rather than the conventional hotel formality. For visitors who want an Austin hotel with genuine character and an explicitly welcoming environment, Hotel Saint Cecilia is the first recommendation.

This is a lovely place, however, beware. They sell “memberships” to people who are not hotel guests. Those members appear to be very entitled. One was told repeatedly to stop a behavior. As soon as a manager left the area, they continued this behavior even after being warned again. Also, they leave the entrance gate open. We witnessed many people walking in who were asked to leave. Very nice hotel but sketchy operations.

Stayed here a few months ago, and after my stay, I noticed that my credit card had been overcharged by about $35 to $40 more for items in the room. I submitted multiple requests to resolve the issue via the contact form on the hotel's website, and no one ever contacted me. Still debating whether or not it's even worth bothering filing a fraud claim/chargeback with the bank, but either way, I'll never stay here again due to the unethical (if not illegal) business practices. If you like trendy boutique hotels, this place may still be worth staying at. But if you dislike being a victim of credit card fraud, might want to avoid it.

Words cannot express how wonderful my stay was at Hotel St. Cecilia! This unique, vintage hotel just a walk away from busy Congress Street in downtown Austin offers a relaxing, quiet and private vacation. The entire staff and manager were so attentive to me during my stay. I could not be more grateful to all of them! With love and gratitude! Jacquelyn Repp, Ann Arbor, Michigan

Staff was wonderful and rooms were lovely. Location was top notch. I read the low reviews on this place and the people sound miserable. You can not have a bad experience here.

We had such a wonderful stay at Hotel Saint Cecilia. It somehow feels like a hidden oasis in the middle of Austin. The property is absolutely beautiful, with huge oak trees, lush gardens, and so many quiet places to sit and relax. Even though you’re just steps from South Congress, it feels peaceful and private. Our room was stylish, comfortable, and full of thoughtful details. We loved wandering the grounds, enjoying cocktails on the patio, and just taking in the atmosphere. Every corner of the property is beautiful without feeling overdone. What really stood out was how unique the hotel feels. It has so much character and doesn’t feel like a typical luxury hotel. It’s intimate, relaxed, and has a personality of its own. The staff was warm without being intrusive, making us feel genuinely welcome while still giving us plenty of privacy to enjoy the property. Everything felt effortless from check-in to check-out. We’ve stayed at some incredible hotels over the years, and Saint Cecilia is one we’ll definitely come back to. If you’re looking for a romantic getaway or just want a beautiful place to unwind, it’s hard to beat.

just stayed at hotel Saint Cecilia and it was incredible, a sanctuary right in the middle of everything. The rooms are beautiful and so peaceful. the staff were all so kind and helpful, and the service at the bar was spot on. The food at the restaurant was excellent. It’s easy to see why they earned a Michelin Key, it was truly well-deserved. Our stay completely exceeded our expectations, and we’ll definitely be back

Absolutely stellar experience. My fiancee and I got engaged here and Jenny the GM of the property was absolutely fantastic and helped me plane the surprise and everything. Wonderful food, extremely clean and very cool rooms and a great record selection for the in room sound system. Everyone at the property made this such a special experience for us that we will never forget. I can’t wait to come back!
