Clarendon Square Inn

Clarendon Square has done something truly special in the world of independent inns. They've created a place that feels as if you're staying in the finest major hotel (e.g., Frette linens) and then provided an atmosphere that feels like home. From the moment you book your room, the owners establish a personal relationship that makes you truly feel as if your needs are their primary concern. There's even an app containing everything you could question in advance or while staying there, from the extraordinary list of nearby restaurants to the ordinary (but often missing in other hotels) information on how to use the shower, the coffee maker (with independent coffee brands), and the hot tub - on the top floor! We had an unusual experience, as Clarendon Square ended up being a refuge for us while we waited for our movers to arrive to our new home, and we did the 101 stressful things you need to do when transferring to a new state. For five days, we looked forward to the moment we'd return in the evening. As we walked up the stairs to the sound of lovely music coming from the library on the 2nd floor, we lingered for a few minutes in the parlor, helped ourselves to a pastry or treat, then made our way to our room, knowing that anything we had requested (more coffee, clean towels, or information on local businesses) would be provided. The best part was our host, Stephen, who loves getting to know guests and makes an effort to keep in touch throughout your stay. He's the reason why Clarendon Square will now be our place to house guests when they come to Boston. We felt valued as guests, and that doesn't always happen. Highly recommend!

The Claredon Square Inn is my favorite in Boston. It's the perfect place to stay, near very nice restaurants, lovely neighborhood, and the Inn has and has thought of everything!!!!

We loved our stay, the area is perfect place to have as a base. Walking distance to the T and food and grocery options. We didn’t once dread coming back to the room , which is thoughtfully decorated, clean and the bed was so comfortable. Although we didn’t have any, Stephen was very welcoming and available for any needs we may have had. We will definitely stay here next time we come to Boston to visit family.

Clarendon Square B&B is a beautiful boutique property that functions like home - it's memorably comfortable, conveniently located and every detail is well considered so that the room and property delivers a lovely stay. I booked the queen room and it didn't disappoint - there was plenty of space to move around and put my things, a small sitting area, desk by the window, comfy bed, snacks, and great coffee with pour-over instructions. There's a nice rooftop deck and hot tub with 360 views of the city. The South End location is walking distance to Back Bay Station and a variety of wonderful restaurants. I felt safe walking everywhere. Stephen and Bobby were responsive and considerable hosts. I will book again... and again!

I have been staying here for 18 years and this is a gem of a hotel/B&B with no parallel in the world. A hot tub on the roof with stunning views, superior comfort in every room, one of the most charming and beautiful streets of Boston, and every detail attended to. Lounge and public space is lovely. Drinks, glasses, robes, towels for the hot tub are all provided. This is a niche boutique hotel that's absolutely worth checking out. Hosts are extremely experienced and warm, and able to help with anything. Restaurant recommendations were top notch. I live in San Francisco and I was amazed at the food at all three places recommended by the hosts.

We spent 4 lovely days at the Clarendon Square B&B - the B&B is in a fantastic location, beautifully designed with a real eye for detail and style. Everything was spotless, cozy, and the rooftop terrace is just wonderful. Stephen is an outstanding host – incredibly thoughtful, always available, and full of great recommendations. You can feel how much heart and care goes into running this place. Absolutely recommended!

Clarendon Square in Boston’s South End is a gem for anyone who loves boutique style accommodations. The moment we walked through the door, it was clear this wasn’t like any other place we had stayed in the South End — the atmosphere is warm, inviting, and full of character. The owner made us feel welcomed from the start. The home itself is stunning, with meticulous restoration work, beautiful finishes, and a stylish mix of historic charm and modern elegance. The location couldn’t be better - a block and a half away from our kids. The neighborhood is safe, walkable, and full of great restaurants and classic Boston scenery - we only wish we could've stayed longer to see the continuation of holiday decorations going up. When we return we will definitely be staying at Clarendon Square. They bring together beautiful design, exceptional service, and a fantastic location. Perfect for travelers who want a boutique B&B with a luxurious twist.
