About this place Sable Kitchen & Bar

Sable Kitchen & Bar in River North is an LGBTQ-friendly gastro-lounge that mixes sophisticated dining with cocktail culture. It’s the kind of place you go for a good meal, good drinks, and a low-key welcome.

The look of the place takes cues from Old Hollywood, but it’s still Chicago: The industrial bones are right there, making it feel elegant but not stuffy. It’s approachable.

Food and drink are the main event here. You’ll find carefully made dishes alongside a solid wine list, all meant for a relaxed but still refined night out. Maybe it’s a special dinner, or just a casual bite with friends, or you’re only there for drinks. The gastro-lounge setup makes it easy to slide into whatever you need.

For LGBTQ+ travelers in Chicago, Sable is a comfortable spot in a neighborhood that’s always been central. It’s a good alternative if you want quality food and a nice atmosphere outside the city’s dedicated gay bars. Check sablechicago.com for hours, reservations, and what’s on the menu.

Oh man, how did this place go from an awesome cool stylish restaurant to sort of a weird hotel bar. It’s kind of a step up from a sports bar now. I’m so sad because the cocktails here used to be delicious and the food options used to be amazing. I can remember having brunch here and having fantastic dishes, this time it was a really limited menu and very very unimpressive

Dry gin martini. I will always come back to this bar. They make the best cocktails. Awesome customer service. Great hotel! So far no complaints!

Innovative cocktails in beautiful modern location; however, I wish there had been some "normal" options for drinks especially for someone who is relatively unversed in craft cocktails. The service was friendly but not overly attentive.
