The hotel looks beautiful from the outside and the common areas are nicely designed. The breakfast was decent, and the reception staff were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, our room was very disappointing. The room was much smaller than expected, especially for a hotel in this price range, and it felt quite cramped during our stay. The bedding was extremely old, with a gray-yellow color that looked worn and outdated. The towels were even more concerning — they were dark gray, heavily worn, and had a strange smell. They did not smell dirty, but they certainly did not feel fresh or clean, and we did not feel comfortable using them. I went to the front desk and requested a replacement set of towels. The staff kindly provided new ones, but unfortunately they were just as old, gray, and worn out as the first set. The furniture in the room was also old, although it appeared to be part of the hotel’s style and design, which is perfectly acceptable. However, basic essentials such as bedding and towels should be clean, fresh, and regularly replaced. These details have a major impact on the guest experience and were the biggest disappointment during our stay. The bathroom door also looked dirty and unpleasant, and it would benefit from being repainted. I understand that the hotel aims to maintain an authentic style, but basic maintenance issues like this should still be properly addressed. The hotel is priced above average for this city, and if I had known the condition of the room textiles beforehand, I would not have chosen to stay here. Another unpleasant experience occurred at 9:20 a.m. when someone opened our room door, looked inside, and then immediately closed it without any explanation. Fortunately, we were already dressed, but it felt intrusive and uncomfortable. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel. When paying premium prices, guests expect basic standards such as fresh bedding, clean towels, and respect forprivacy. It was especially disappointing, and we were relieved that we only stayed for one night.
Very disappointing experience at Centrella Hotel. The towels were grey instead of white, the room felt poorly maintained, and overall cleanliness did not meet expectations. The stay was uncomfortable enough that we decided to leave a day early and lose the cost of our last, very expensive prepaid night. Would not stay here again.
I am writing to share feedback regarding my recent stay in the Alder Room. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing due to several significant issues: - Room Amenities: The shower head was not adjustable and was positioned so low that it only hit my legs, making it very difficult to use. - Noise Levels: The walls are extremely thin. I was able to hear everything from the neighboring rooms, including footsteps, dropped items, closing doors, and snoring. - Parking Hazards: The hotel parking lot is dangerously small. While I chose to park on the street, I actually witnessed another guest back into my vehicle while they were attempting to maneuver out of the hotel lot. Fortunately, there was no major damage, but the layout is a major liability. - Staff Professionalism: While Rene was very helpful and pleasant, the female staff members were unfriendly. I felt as though I was an inconvenience to them and was interrupting their time spent on social media. Given these factors, I cannot recommend this establishment to others.
Great place to stay. Reasonable rates, friendly staff and great location. I walked to Fisherman’s Wharf and the Cannery with no problems.
This has gone downhill over the years. Just sad. Super worn property. Non existent service. “Breakfast” consists of plasticky tiny “bagels” and Walmart muffins. They nickel and dime you on everything. Just not a pleasant experience.
Right place, right price.
