What reviewers say

Many visitors praise the friendly and efficient check-in experience, often mentioning staff members like Safian and Sam. However, some guests found the hotel to be old and small for the price, with basic continental breakfast and a neighborhood that made them feel unsafe at night. Rooms also reportedly lack microwaves and refrigerators, and some have no air conditioning.

The hotel feels a bit mid, evening noise, meh surroundings, you don’t necessarily feel extreme comfort there That said, rooms are clean, exactly what you need, staff is friendly and location is great It’s not the four seasons but its quite ok

Staying at SOMA was not what I expected at all especially for the price. When you book it sounds like a great price but when you arrive it’s a whole different story. Supposedly it’s supposed have breakfast. The breakfast is across the street which really small. They charge for a service night stay 60 pm to your booking price and not to stop off the valet parking is 45.00 a night with taxes and fees. I was very disappointed 😔 not worth to pay almost 500 to stay in the hood

I picked this hotel (thru airbnb) because it was close to a venue where my daughter had an event. The hotel appears well kept and clean and the staff are friendly, helpful and competent. I am disappointed to share though that we couldn't stay because after spending about an hour or so sitting atop our queen beds, me in mine and my daughter in hers, watching TV, the bedbugs came for us. Literally. Lights on, easy to see them, one so large I thought (and wished) it was a tick. But Google ID'ed them and I easily caught about 6 or 7 of varying sizes in a tissue and delivered them to the front desk where my daughter also shared photos she had taken of them in our beds (not trying to hide, just climbing on the pillow, on the top sheet...) The woman at the front desk heard my story, put my specimens in a latex glove, had my daughter email the photos to her and said they would investigate. She was very apologetic of course and offered us another room (no thanks) or we could move across the street to their sister property. But we declined. The hotel promptly emailed me their agreement to refund both nights we were to stay, but fyi if u book a hotel on Airbnb you have to call Airbnb (no option on the app) and then provide them with proof of the hotel's agreeing to refund. I did get a full refund. But the weekend became memorable for all the wrong reasons. Extra notes for the non-DLTR people: The 3 star service is for the front desk woman, the valet and the security guard who were really good at their jobs. And the location in the Civic Center area may not be for some but I have never had any issues there. I love SF. And this was my first "bed bugs in a hotel" issue in my entire fairly long (so far) life, so maybe I was actually overdue.
