About This Event
San Francisco Pride carries the weight of the city that became a world capital of gay life, and it still feels like a home crowd. The organization has been running Pride for more than five decades. The parade takes over Market Street from the Embarcadero to Civic Center, and the whole weekend reflects San Francisco: political, kinky in places, and full of people who moved here precisely to live this way. Finances have been shaky. In 2025, Comcast, Anheuser-Busch, Diageo and Benefit Cosmetics pulled out, leaving about $1.3 million in sponsorship to replace.
The big events come in sequence. The Trans March is on Friday, the Dyke March on Saturday, and the parade on Sunday morning, with more than 200 contingents setting off from Beale Street and ending at Civic Center Plaza. The Civic Center celebration, with its stages, food and drinks, runs Saturday and Sunday. Watching the parade is free. Then the Castro takes over Sunday afternoon and evening, with packed bars and street crowds, and ticketed club parties go on into the night.
SF Pride is held on the last full weekend of June. It's the one big US Pride where you need a jacket, as the summer fog makes the city cool, especially later in the day. Hotels around Union Square and SoMa are expensive that weekend; book early. Muni and BART are the only sane way to get around; driving near Market Street is pointless.
The 56th edition ran on 27 and 28 June 2026, with the parade on Sunday under the slogan "Resistance in Action." SF Pride claims more than a million attendees each year, though ABC7 described the 2026 parade crowd as tens of thousands. The 57th edition has been announced for 26 and 27 June 2027.
