DoubleTree by Hilton St. Augustine Historic District

I had high expectations for a 4-star Hilton, but this stay fell short. The location is in a "no man's land" where you aren't quite close enough to walk comfortably, meaning we spent extra on parking downtown. The service was also underwhelming. The front desk staff lacked the warmth and Southern charm I expected, providing a very "transactional" experience. The rooms were acceptable, but the overall atmosphere didn't justify the price or the brand name. Next time, I’ll be staying elsewhere.

How about paying your staff instead of having them beg for money in the room?

Expensive parking that were not shown during booking.

Only stayed one night, didn’t feel very homey.. My room gave the vibes of a hospital room and I found hair in the towels that I was provided.. good for only a night or two stay. Lots of amenities!

Avoid at all costs. Martha at the front desk is the rudest person ever and tried denying service because I asked what the cheapest room they had was with a smile, she thought I was being sarcastic, but I was only being nice. Treated me terribly after that and I was trying to be a customer

Just a great place to stay. Comfortable and an easy walk to downtown. Not so close you're in the thick of things, but close enough for a nice dinner without taking the car or Uber. Staff is super helpful and the views across the street provide amazing sunrises. Plenty of off street parking as well. Nice lobby bar too.

Stay away from this place , horrible customer service, receptionist Marsha is a walking severance package, we planned on a family dinner @ 9pm , brought our whole family down to lobby after a long day out , only to show up at Oak room restaurant completely shut down under staffed. Advertisement says closes at 10pm . No one in site . We had to bring back fast food . Disgusted with this place .

We received this review after our previous poor experience at another Hilton. Check-in was, at best, neutral. The rooms are supposed to be renovated. The bed was uncomfortable. However, everything was clean and quiet. The location is great, but there are many alternatives. We would not stay at this hotel again.

It’s unfortunate that one disrespectful employee can taint an otherwise good stay. The reception employee that checked us in on 3/27 in late afternoon was great. We had been told by trolley company to have front desk call in morning and they would send shuttle to pick us up so we could begin our tour at stop one. The employee said that was correct and to simple come done and ask the morning reception person. Next morning we did exactly that only Olivia the employee working at the reception desk said she had no idea about a shuttle pick up and told us to walk across the street. We related to her that the other employee had confirmed this shuttle pick up but she was done with us and repeated that we should walk across the street to the trolley pick up and wait. This was not just across the street it was a hike. She never inquired who had confirmed this shuttle or asked if we had a reason we needed to be picked up. One of us has difficulty walking and the shuttle was needed. I told her she needed to listen to us as the other employee had indeed confirmed that the shuttle would come if the reception desk called. She refused to listen and treated us with disrespect. I went outside and called the trolley company at OldTown Trolley and they confirmed again that they would pick us up but needed to talk to reception employee. I went back in and Olivia refused to talk to them. I told the trolley person and they were confused as well to why the employee was refusing to speak to them and had given us the wrong information because they always pick up at Doubletree when needed. The agreed to pick us up anyway and they arrived at hotel within 10 minutes. I am a Hilton Honors member and I immediately called customer service and explained the situation. We were disconnected during call but they never tried to reconnect with me. That will be the last time I stay in a Hilton Hotel if that can’t even be bothered to speak to their members to resolve a problem. That one employee tainted an otherwise good stay. However it left us with a lasting impression of Hilton Hotels. It doesn’t matter how nice the hotel stay was if an employee treats you with such disrespect.

Friendly staff, clean modern room, walkable to the old town. My teenager says the pillows were nice and squishy, not hard like other hotels. Parking is tight (and $25) but there was a large group in town for the The Players PGA Championship. Also, they let us stay parked on the day of checkout until 4pm. Thanks, Hilton staff!
