The honest summary: Orlando has no single gayborhood and no strip you can walk end to end. What it does have is a dozen real queer bars spread across four neighbourhoods north and east of downtown, a men's bathhouse with an outdoor pool, the biggest Pride in Florida every October and Gay Days every June. It's a car-and-rideshare city, the state politics are hostile, and the people running the bars know it. Go anyway. The scene is warmer than the headlines.

Legal in one line: Same-sex marriage has been legal since 2015 and Orlando has its own anti-discrimination ordinance, but Florida law is hostile: the 2023 drag law (SB 1438) became enforceable when a federal appeals court lifted the injunction on August 4, 2026, the "Don't Say Gay" law (HB 1557) and a bathroom law for government buildings (HB 1521) are in force, and from January 1, 2027 cities can no longer fund or sponsor Pride events (SB 1134). Equality Florida's 2023 travel advisory has not been withdrawn.

Where the scene is

Out x Out, Visit Orlando and Watermark all describe the same map, four clusters a short rideshare apart:

    • Milk District (East South Street at Bumby Avenue): the biggest club, Southern Nights, plus its sister bars District Dive and Stiffy's.
    • Ivanhoe Village (North Orange Avenue by Lake Ivanhoe): Savoy, Ivanhoe 1915 next door, and the Renaissance Theatre a few blocks away.
    • College Park / Edgewater Drive: two long-running neighbourhood bars, Hank's and Barcodes.
    • Downtown, Thornton Park and Mills 50: Anthem on Orange Avenue, the queer-owned Outpost tavern by Lake Eola, the LGBT+ Center and Zebra Youth on Mills Avenue, and the new Sapphire Lounge in Parramore, west of the Kia Center.

The old gay strip on North Orange Blossom Trail, home of Parliament House, is gone. More on that below.

    Bars and clubs

    • Southern Nights (375 S Bumby Ave, Milk District). Out x Out and Visit Orlando both call it the city's biggest LGBTQ+ club: several rooms, drag shows late in the evening, themed nights through the week and a Latin night. It used to be called Revolution. Google reviews are mixed (3.7), but on a Saturday this is the big room.
    • District Dive (2401 E South St). Same owners as Southern Nights, next door. Pool, darts and a Sunday Funday with Bloody Marys.
    • Stiffy's (2405 E South St). The bear and leather bar in the same complex, with go-go dancers and theme nights.
    • Savoy (1913 N Orange Ave, Ivanhoe Village). A gay club with several rooms, drag most nights, a Thursday Latin night called Calor, and drag brunch at weekends. Out x Out says there's no cover.
    • Ivanhoe 1915 (1915 N Orange Ave). Savoy's quieter neighbour, run by the same team: karaoke, pool, trivia and bear nights.
    • Anthem (100 N Orange Ave, downtown). A bar, restaurant and club that opened in 2025. Its founders told WFTV and Fox 35 they wanted to fill the gap Pulse left. The calendar is the fullest in town: a Thursday Latin night with a salsa and bachata lesson around 8:30pm, Sapphic Fridays, Harmony Saturdays, drag shows and daytime happy hours.
    • Hank's (5026 Edgewater Dr). A gay bar since 1987, cash only, open noon to 2am every day according to Out x Out. Pool tournaments on Thursdays and a back patio. The crowd is local and grown-up.
    • Barcodes (4453 Edgewater Dr). A bear, leather and pup bar, owned by a gay couple since 2009. It runs Leather Night, Jock Night and underwear nights. Open from 3pm on weekdays and 2pm at weekends until 2am. Out x Out mentions a one-drink minimum.
    • The Sapphire Lounge (741 W Church St, Parramore). It opened on September 4, 2026 in the old Stonewall space and bills itself as Orlando's only sapphic+ lounge and restaurant. Orlando Weekly notes the city hadn't had a lesbian-focused bar since Faces closed in 2007. It has a patio, an open-air upstairs lounge, Mexican-inspired food, drag, live music and DJs.
    • Outpost Neighborhood Tavern (227 N Eola Dr, in the EO Inn building). A queer-owned tavern that Watermark covered before it opened. Southern food, sports on the screens and drag bingo.

    The bathhouse

Club Orlando (450 E Compton St, just south of downtown) has been the city's men-only bathhouse since 1998. Out x Out and Travel Gay list a heated outdoor pool, hot tub, sauna, gym, private rooms and video lounges. Google lists it as open 9am to 10pm Monday to Wednesday, until midnight on Thursday, around the clock on Friday and Saturday, and until 10pm on Sunday. Out x Out says under-25s get free entry with a locker or room. Older listings put it on Pine Street. That's wrong.

We don't list outdoor cruising spots in Orlando. The only pages describing park cruising here were scraped directories and our own old listing. Florida's lewdness laws are enforced, and arrest records go online with names and photos. The bathhouse and the apps are the realistic options.

    Pulse

The Pulse site (1912 S Orange Ave) is where 49 people were killed on June 12, 2016. The City of Orlando bought it in 2023 and is building the permanent memorial. The club building was demolished in March 2026. The design the city published in May 2026 has 49 columns, a reflecting pool on the old dance floor and a pavilion for artifacts, and it is due to open in late 2027. The interim memorial is closed during construction. You can see the site from outside the fence, and a small area is kept for flowers and notes.

    Pride and the big weekends

    • Come Out With Pride: Saturday, October 17, 2026 at Lake Eola Park, noon to 10pm. The parade runs 4pm to 6pm and fireworks start at 9:30pm, according to comeoutwithpride.org. The 2027 date had not been announced at the time of writing.
    • Gay Days: the organisers announced a pause in February 2026, then reversed it, and the event went ahead from June 4 to 8, 2026. Gaydays.com lists June 3 to 7, 2027. The red-shirt day at Magic Kingdom is organised by the community, not by Gay Days.
    • One Magical Weekend: the circuit-party weekend that runs alongside Gay Days. June 3 to 7, 2027, per its own site.

Pride weekend fills every bar in this guide. Check the Orlando events calendar for the parties at Anthem, Savoy and Southern Nights.

    Community

The LGBT+ Center Orlando (946 N Mills Ave) offers free testing, support groups and events, and runs a Pride Pantry on Fridays at its second site, 1200 Hillcrest St. Zebra Youth (911 N Mills Ave, formerly Zebra Coalition) works with LGBTQ+ people aged 13 to 24. The Renaissance Theatre (415 E Princeton St) is the queer-led stage for drag, cabaret and the Boots country-western night. It moved back home in March 2026 after a stretch downtown. For shopping, MojoMan (633 Commonwealth Ave) is a gay-owned men's swimwear shop.

Closed or changed: gone but still Googled

    • Parliament House (410 N Orange Blossom Trail): the resort and club closed on November 2, 2020 and was demolished in 2021. Its owners have talked about a new downtown space at 29 S Orange Ave, but Spectrum News reported in June 2026 that it wasn't open yet.
    • Hamburger Mary's: the Church Street restaurant closed in June 2024. It reopened in 2026 in Old Town, Kissimmee (5764 W Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy), about 30 minutes south.
    • Stonewall (741 W Church St): closed in 2022. The Sapphire Lounge now uses the space.
    • Pulse: demolished in March 2026. See above.
    • Boots at 54 W Church St: that was only the Ren's temporary home. Boots runs at the Renaissance Theatre.
    • Revolution: the old name of Southern Nights.
    • The Hammered Lamb (Thornton Park): closed in January 2025.

    Practical tips

    • Getting around: Orlando International Airport (MCO) is about 10 miles southeast of downtown, roughly 20 to 30 minutes by car. Buses and SunRail don't connect the bar districts well at night, so plan on rideshares. Edgewater Drive to the Milk District is about 15 minutes.
    • Where to stay: for the bars, stay downtown or by Lake Eola. The EO Inn is a 21-room inn on the lake with Outpost in the same building, and Aloft Orlando Downtown is walkable to Anthem. If the trip is mostly theme parks, International Drive is cheaper but 20 minutes from every bar.
    • Cash: Hank's takes cash only.
    • Heat and storms: June to September is hot, humid and stormy. October Pride weekend is usually the most comfortable time for a night out.
    • Drag: shows carry on in bars, but Florida's drag law is now enforceable. Venues may card more strictly and keep under-21s out of shows.

    A few words (Spanish)

Orlando has one of the largest Puerto Rican communities in the US, and the Latin nights at Anthem, Savoy and Southern Nights are some of the best nights in town. A little Spanish helps:

    • ¿Hay noche latina hoy? Is there a Latin night tonight?
    • Una cerveza, por favor. A beer, please.
    • ¿Vamos a bailar? Shall we dance?
    • Ambiente: slang for the gay scene ("¿Es de ambiente?" means "Is it a gay place?").

FAQ

Where is the gay area in Orlando?

There isn't one single area. The bars are split between the Milk District, Ivanhoe Village, Edgewater Drive in College Park and downtown. Most people stay downtown and take rideshares between them.

Is Orlando safe for gay travellers?

The city itself is welcoming, and the bars, hotels and theme parks are used to LGBTQ+ visitors. State law is the problem: Florida has passed a run of anti-LGBTQ laws since 2022, and Equality Florida's travel advisory is still in place. Use normal big-city precautions and take rideshares late at night.

When is Orlando Pride?

Come Out With Pride is in October. In 2026 it's on Saturday, October 17 at Lake Eola Park, with the parade from 4pm to 6pm.

When is Gay Days 2027?

June 3 to 7, 2027, according to gaydays.com. One Magical Weekend runs on the same dates.

Can I visit the Pulse memorial?

Not up close at the moment. The interim memorial closed for construction of the permanent memorial, which is due to open in late 2027. You can see the site from outside the fence.

Is there a lesbian bar in Orlando?

Yes, again. The Sapphire Lounge on West Church Street opened in September 2026. Anthem's Sapphic Fridays and pop-up women's parties fill out the calendar.
