Mauritius Pride March (Marche des Fiertés)
About This Event
Mauritius Pride, the Marche des Fiertés, is the island's yearly LGBTQ+ march. Collectif Arc-en-Ciel has organised it since 2006, and Young Queer Alliance, PILS, Gender Links, ekiT and RekonekT now co-organise it. It isn't held in Port Louis itself: since 2020 the march has started from the Plaza in Rose-Hill, about 10 km south of the capital, with a Pride Village before the walk.
The 21st edition took place on Saturday 13 June 2026 under the theme "Ansam, Nou Pli For" (Together, We Are Stronger). The 2025 march was on 7 June and the 2024 march on 27 July; the 2023 march on 21 October celebrated the Supreme Court ruling of 4 October 2023 that decriminalised sex between men. In 2018 the Port Louis march was cancelled after armed protesters blocked the route, and a sit-in at the Caudan Waterfront took its place.
The 2027 date had not been announced at the time of writing. Recent marches point to a Saturday in June, but check collectifarcenciel.org before you book. After Pride 2026, CAEC reported a wave of online hate and threats. The march itself passed peacefully, as it has every year since 2020.
