What reviewers say

Many visitors praise the Grand Hotel Cairns for its friendly staff, great value meals, particularly the $12 steak which is often described as satisfying and well-priced. However, some guests have found the steak to be tough, and there are complaints about management's customer service and staff not taking responsibility for errors.

Sorry but my steak was awful. I couldn't even cut it properly with the steak knife let alone chew it. Forced down part of it. Chips and gravy were nice. Staff are helpful and friendly.

We love this bar, inside and outside seating. Best value for lunch steak, chips and coleslaw, plus other lunch options.

I visited the restaurant for dinner only and did not use the hotel. I chose it because the reviews were good, but despite the small number of customers, the service was poor. The staff didn't smile, and they didn't give clear answers to my questions. It seemed like they were just giving vague answers. I don't think I'll be using this restaurant again.

Only spent the night here on my way from Innisfail back to Melbourne, but it was a great place to stay. Right across from the shopping centre and on the other side of that is the main bus/rail depot which was really convenient for me as I caught the Greyhound bus in. Above a tavern/pub so there are some great pub food options. There was also a food truck there too I think it's BBQ Brothers. I loved that the doors open out onto the wrap around deck, lovely place to sit and eat, listen to the music from downstairs and just relax.
