This is the best known secret in Geelong, down a lane way, where you feel you're not a tourist. Andy Pobjoy has this nailed. Good vibes, happy crew, dim lighting - all the things that make a club great. The Piano Bar feels like somewhere you'd find in Nashville. There's the upbeat groove at the front, with a cozy dance floor and a lot of lady dance power. Loved the welcoming feeling. You can get up and dance and have fun on your own if you want. Main room it is long tables, smiling happy faces. All there for chill and fun. If you're lucky, Andy will leap to a table and serenade you with his saxamaphone. He's such a lovely man that it's worth going there to just be in his good energy presence. Apparently this iconic Geelong venue is closing in July 2026. Say it isn't so! Well that gives me one more month to pop in I guess. I suggest you do too.
First timer and I had heard good things about the Piano Bar. Unfortunatly the night did not impress me. Took us 20 minutes to be served at the bar. Ordered 1 pepsi max which tasted like soda water. Ordered 1 Espresso Martini which was half size and tasted watered down. When we discussed the drink situation with the bar staff (waiting another 15 minutes) these were re made but tasted exactly the same. Ordered a pizza and garlic which took 1 hour and 45 minutes to arrive at our table. We had to ask for our garlic break which the staff had forgotten about. (Show was almost over when food arrived) Another group at our table failed to receive their Pizza. Staff advise there was no record of the transaction, yet they (patron) had evidence of payment. A refund was given. Music was good but the overall experience was ruined by the service behind the bar and the quality of food and drink. Good luck with the new iteration of the Piano Bar.
Only just found it & unfortunately it's shutting shop 😕 June/ July shame had good night music was good and fun
Drawn in by the music, stayed for the gluten free pizza. Music awesome piano vocals and sax. 🥰
Thoroughly enjoyed the music request evening. Andy absolutely kicked it out of the park with both range and endurance. That was a 5 star performance. What brought my overall experience down was being told that Starward whisky was vodka. Whilst initially engaging and friendly, the bar person took exception to a request for a Starward whisky neat, one of my husbands' favourite, and a vodka with soda water. He asked me which bottle of Starward and I chose one and he started to put ice in it which I asked him to stop. He became frustrated, I repeated my request, he threw ice into the whisky, added soda water and chucked in a piece of lime. I figured it was ruined, but said I would pay for it anyway and requested the vodka. He said it was vodka and I disagreed and pointed to the bottle. He became upset, told me I had chosen the bottle and told me he was cutting me off. It was extremely confusing and unfortunate, I ended up with one vodka and soda which I gave to my husband and we left directly. I would like to mention, it was Easter Sunday and they didn't add an extra surcharge.
