The Court Hotel

The Court Hotel has been the cornerstone of Perth's LGBTQ+ nightlife since 1995 and stands as one of the most complete gay venue complexes in Australia. Built across multiple levels on Beaufort Street in Northbridge, The Court is not simply a bar but an entertainment precinct: the rooftop bar offers views across Perth's city skyline and is one of the best outdoor drinking spaces in the city; the main bar level runs DJ nights and themed events throughout the week; the nightclub spaces host circuit nights and visiting DJs; and the cabaret room has hosted some of Australia's most celebrated drag performers over three decades of operation. The Court's drag programming is its most celebrated cultural contribution. Perth has produced a number of nationally recognised drag artists, and The Court has been both training ground and showcase for many of them. The weekly drag shows draw audiences who have been attending for years alongside first-timers; the production values are consistently high, and the relationship between performers and the audience has the warmth of a genuine community institution rather than a tourist attraction.
