Auckland Pride is New Zealand's largest LGBTQ+ festival, a week-long celebration held in February in the City of Sails. After a controversy and rebuild in 2018-2019 that made it one of the most radical reformations of any major pride event, Auckland Pride re-emerged as a community-led festival centered on Polynesian, Maori and Asian LGBTQ+ voices alongside the broader rainbow community.
The Pride March, held on a Saturday evening through Ponsonby Road, has become a moving ceremony rather than a commercial parade. The festival week includes gigs, comedy nights, drag brunches, film screenings and the annual Queer Ball. Auckland's warm February weather makes outdoor events a highlight of the calendar.
