About this place RainbowYOUTH

RainbowYOUTH is a charity founded in Auckland in 1989 that supports queer, gender-diverse, takatāpui and intersex young people across Aotearoa New Zealand. Its services include peer support, drop-in centres, social and support groups, information resources and education work in schools and community settings. It's aimed at young people and those around them (families, teachers, health workers) rather than at visitors. Current drop-in hours and contacts are on ry.org.nz.

Today, I had the privilege of visiting Rainbow Youth for the first time, and it was truly a life-changing experience. It was the first time in my life that I opened up about my journey as a transgender person, and the entire team welcomed me with open hearts. They listened to my story with genuine care and made me feel incredibly safe and supported. The environment felt like a family—warm, loving, and inclusive.
