Feast Festival 2026
About This Event
Feast Festival is Adelaide’s annual LGBTQ+ arts and culture event. It runs for three weeks each November, one of Australia’s biggest queer cultural gatherings. Started in 1997, Feast brings together theatre, visual arts, film, music, cabaret, comedy, drag, and community events. Dozens of venues across the city host it all, mixing Adelaide’s long history of arts festivals with the party vibe of Pride.
The Adelaide Pride March is the festival’s main event. Around 20,000 people march or watch it wind through the city streets. But that’s just one part of a program that lasts weeks and covers all kinds of LGBTQ+ art. Feast has put on shows by some of Australia's best queer artists, plus international guests. The programming is good because Adelaide takes its arts festivals seriously.
South Australia was the first Australian state to decriminalize homosexuality, back in 1975. That gives Feast a history it doesn't shout about, but it's there. The LGBTQ+ community that meets in Adelaide every November has been building openly and legally for 50 years. You see that confidence and creativity everywhere in the festival. If you’re an LGBTQ+ traveler in Australia looking for high-quality queer art in a city that’s affordable and friendly, Feast Festival is worth seeing.
