About this place John Glet

John Glet is a workwear shop on Mehringdamm in Kreuzberg. It is a regular trade clothing store, not a gay shop as such, but it is popular with gay men for its sturdy, butch workwear. The main draw is the Zunfthose, the traditional German carpenter's trousers with two vertical zips down the front, along with corduroy, canvas and leather pieces. The Glet name dates back to Hamburg in 1843. It is a good stop if you are in Berlin around Folsom Europe or just exploring the Mehringdamm and Bergmannkiez area. My heart bleeds: now they're closing too 🙈 It was always a great shop with very competent staff and a good selection. It's a tragedy. No decent shops left at Mehringdamm U-Bahn station. Almost only fast-food outlets and empty storefronts.
