We only stopped here for a drink. The service was very friendly and the atmosphere pleasant, but the prices were really steep, so we only had one drink.

My husband and I spent five days in Hamburg in May. Hamburg was a very interesting city and we would love to come back - so much to do. The George Hotel was one of the highlights of our visit. We felt so well taken care of by everybody who worked there. The whole team was so very friendly and service minded. Their efforts and positive spirit were deeply appreciated. The hotel is very close to the city by foot, subway or bus. We really appreciated coming back from the city to a green area close to the water. Close to the hotel is the lively street Lange Reihe, a long street full of restaurants, coffee shops, supermarket, nice shops etcetera. The hotel has a very smart Roof Top Bar with wonderful view over the Alster lake. Great drinks and don't miss out the snacks with crisps, olives and the best parmesan cheese ever. The Italian bistro on the ground floor serves great Italian food. We didn´t get to the Italian restaurant but noticed there was a lot of guests from the hotel as well as visiting guests from outside. The hotel has a garden and a very tasteful lobby area with sofas were you can relax with a drink, book or conversation. The internal decoration is made with outmost taste in the whole hotel. Small details are thought of to make your stay enhanced. We just loved The George with its team. One of the best hotels I ever stayed in. Danke schön to all of you!

A lovely hotel, close to the Outer Alster Lake, with a beautiful rooftop bar offering a wonderful view of the lake. From there, we were able to watch the fireworks display by the Japanese community last Friday evening.

A truly fantastic, stylish hotel with top-notch service at breakfast and the bar. The location is also superb, right on the Alster lake, within walking distance of Lange Reihe and the train station. The rooftop bar is truly unique. The only downside is that our room was directly above the entrance, making it extremely noisy from Thursday to Saturday evenings onwards. The bar patrons are incredibly loud, and you can hear them very clearly – even with the window closed. Smoke also drifts into the room. Next time, I would definitely request a room on the other side, especially if you're a couple or family looking for a relaxing city break. This should also be mentioned at check-in. I could barely sleep, even with earplugs… I can understand the other reviews that complain about the music in the bar being so loud that conversation is nearly impossible. It's definitely an acquired taste.

Beautiful place but a little dark inside.
