What reviewers say

Visitors frequently praise the exceptionally friendly and helpful staff, the convenient waterfront location near the old town and bus station, and the comfortable beds with privacy curtains. However, some guests noted a lack of privacy in the showers due to flimsy curtains and issues with bathroom amenities like no bins or hand drying facilities.

About this place Hostel Pupa

Hostel Pupa is a gay-friendly hostel located in Kotor, Montenegro's picturesque coastal town. Situated on Njegoševa Street in the heart of the old town, this venue offers accommodation in one of the Balkans' most charming and historically rich destinations. Kotor is known for its stunning medieval architecture, dramatic mountain backdrop, and increasingly welcoming atmosphere for LGBTQ+ travellers exploring the Adriatic region. As a hostel, this venue caters to budget-conscious and socially-minded travellers looking for affordable lodging and opportunities to connect with other guests. Hostels in Kotor typically offer a mix of dormitory and private room options, making them ideal for solo travellers, groups of friends, or couples seeking a more social and communal travel experience. The social atmosphere and shared facilities common to hostels create natural spaces for meeting other visitors and getting local recommendations. The Njegoševa location places visitors within walking distance of Kotor's main attractions, including the Cathedral of Saint Tryphon, the city walls, and waterfront promenades. The old town itself is compact and pedestrian-friendly, with numerous cafes, restaurants, and shops nearby. For LGBTQ+ travellers, staying in a gay-friendly establishment provides peace of mind and a welcoming base for exploring the region. While Kotor's broader LGBTQ+ scene is still developing compared to larger European cities, the town's growing reputation as a tolerant and culturally open destination makes it an increasingly appealing stop on LGBTQ+ travel itineraries. Whether you're visiting for the natural beauty, historical sites, or simply to experience authentic Montenegrin hospitality, a gay-friendly hostel provides comfortable, affordable accommodation with a community-oriented vibe.

This was a great hostel with helpful workers. There were curtains on the beds and clean washrooms! Guests must make their own beds. Towel included!

Definitely one of the best hostels in the world. Very comfortable beds, nice privacy curtains. Very well equipped kitchen. Helpful staff. The location is absolutely superb. In a quiet lane, but a minutes walk to everything (old town, bus station, supermarket, bakeries). Lots of board games. Maps. Etc etc. Seriously top tier hostel. Loved it.
