Monte Belvedere Hotel by Shiadu

It's been just a few shy days over a month since I left the sunny smiles of the ladies at this hôtel. I've spent time in this boutique group before, but this was my first time staying at Monte Belvedere. The lovely flame-haired Claudia + the AMAZING Rejane (who nicknamed me Diva + gives the BEST hugs) + even the lovely ladies who provide the breakfast buffet...this haven became a home for me this last trip to Lisboa. The rooftop views over breakfast are unmatched + the attention to detail in every way is that of a 5 star experience with a 3 star cost. The rooms are always comfortable + clean. The products available from the artisanal teas + floral, natural shower gel are all especially curated. The space is centrally located enough to be close to the action, yet quiet for a proper night's rest. Wherever there is a shiadu hotel in the world, I'll be choosing that. It's the best way NOT to go wrong.

The view took my breath away; unfortunately the mold made me not want to take another one OVERALL RECOMMENDATION: Hesitant recommendation. While the location and views are unbeatable, the persistent cleanliness issues make it difficult to recommend over other boutique options in Lisbon We stayed 6 nights, in 4 separate rooms, and experienced a range of room quality. NOTABLE POINTS The Views: The rooftop terrace is world-class. It offers some of the best views of the Tagus River in Lisbon. Breakfast: The breakfast is complimentary and high quality, although variety is limited and food temperature is fairly lukewarm The Staff: Consistently friendly, helpful, and welcoming throughout our 6-night stay. Location: Perfectly situated for exploring, though be aware the nearby overlook can be loud until around ~2 am Maintenance and Cleanliness: Persistent drainage issues in the showers, often standing in an inch of water. Some rooms/cleaning did not have towels restocked. More concerning was the visible mold in several rooms and air conditioner unit Service Limitation: Note that the Reservations department is only available from ~9 am to 6 pm, and there are no off-hours cleaning services available if an issue is discovered late at night ROOM BY ROOM BREAKDOWN Because we stayed in four separate rooms 44, 11, (asked to switch rooms) 51, 21 we noticed some issues with cleaning: Room 44: The shower did not drain properly. Room 11: Concerning amount of mold found in the air conditioning unit and bathroom area. Shower did not drain properly (We were allowed to switch rooms once they were notified of the mold issue) Room 51: Visible mold on the window curtains inside the shower and on the tiles. Room 21: Similar issues with mold on bathroom tiles and fixtures. FINAL VERDICT: While the staff and the scenery are lovely, management needs to address the cleaning process. When mold is clearly visible across different floors and basic maintenance (like drainage and towel replacement) is overlooked, it suggests a systemic issue rather than a one-off situation. We enjoyed our stay, but variations with room cleanliness make for a hesitant recommendation at the price point and abundance of other boutique options in Lisbon Photos are from 3 of the 4 rooms

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Monte Belvedere. Piedro was incredibly helpful and resourceful when our son had a health emergency — his calm, efficient support made a stressful situation so much easier to manage. The extended checkout also made a big difference to our comfort when we unexpectedly had to extend our stay in Lisbon by a day. Breakfast on the terrace was excellent, and we loved the view — a perfect way to start the morning. Highly recommended! The location is wonderful for those who value proximity to Baixa Chiado Alfama but don’t want to be inundated with tourists and touts. Keep in mind only official taxies (not Uber/Bolt) can drive the last block from the Main Street to pickup at the hotel front door. I would not recommend this location (or many older parts of Lisbon) for those who are mobility impaired.

Best location in the city and the view fromy room beat out any view from the city. The staff light be the friendliest I've ever met and the breakfast was incredible. I'll stay here every time I come to Lisbon.

The hotel is incredibly well located: central, but above all, perched right above Lisbon with a truly breathtaking view of the city and the Tagus River. The rooftop breakfast area definitely makes a difference. Starting the day with this panoramic view immediately sets the mood. Breakfast is a real highlight: fresh, high-quality products, and you can tell it's not your average fare. Some products even come from their local farm, Chamboa. A special mention goes to the zucchini jam. As for the service, it's impeccable. The staff is available, friendly, and efficient. A special mention goes to Pedro: his advice is precise and tailored to your needs; he knows the city inside and out, and his recommendations make all the difference in optimizing your stay. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and understated. In short, a well-rounded hotel with real added value in terms of location, view, and overall experience. The perfect choice for enjoying Lisbon without any worries.

Terrace has the best view in the whole Lisboa! (trust me, it was my 6th time in Lisboa) We had a super comfortable and lovely stay at Hotel Monte Belvedere. We stayed in one of the new ground-floor rooms - everything was spotless and thoughtfully arranged, and we slept very well because the hotel is wonderfully quiet at night. Breakfast was tasty and a great way to start the day.
