The experience at Palácio Principe Real exceeded all expectations. When we originally planned our trip to Lisbon, we had booked a different hotel, but we had to reschedule our entire trip resulting in that hotel being unavailable. We stumbled upon this incredible location thanks to AI, and we're very happy that we ended up at the Palácio. The staff's hospitality is beyond what either my wife and I could have imagined. If you've read the book Unreasonable Hospitality, the team at Palácio are the embodiment of that philosophy. The rooms are generously large and comfortable, and the food is delicious and healthy. You truly feel like you're in your own little oasis within the city. We've never felt so connected with a hotel and its team. We loved our experience so much we booked to stay again. I could write much more, but the main point is this hotel is a must stay if you value hospitality, quality luxury, and a private getaway while being not too far from the action of the city.
Top 3!
Exquisite restoration of a Lisbon townhouse. A wonderfully attentive and friendly team, with the owners personally present to welcome guests. Thoughtful touches throughout and a warm, polished atmosphere
There are many lovely hotels, with nice rooms and pretty views. But the real measure is what a staff does when you have a problem. When we inadvertently left a suitcase behind, the marvelous staff and owners found a way of getting it to our next hotel in the Duoro Valley. We were so grateful. Even before checkout however, we were in love with this place it was one of the few places during our four-week trip where I had extended conversations with other guests. Germans, British and fellow Americans, we had discussions over drinks in the garden, by the pool and in the lobby. There was such a convivial feeling to the setting that invited such interactions. The breakfasts were outstanding. Don’t miss having an adult beverage in the afternoons. I found myself wanting to just have a few hours after sightseeing each day to linger in the garden! The location of the hotel is terrific just a little outside of the crush so give you a respite. As one of our day guides said when he arrived for an evening outing, “This place is magic!” It is, indeed.
Wow! This hotel is awesome. Gail & Myles and their team are the ultimate hosts. Roasting chestnuts on a crisp evening with the other guests was a special experience. Their beautiful restoration of an old palace is remarkable. We are very fortunate to have stayed at Palacio Principe Real. A true hidden gem.
