Service was great from bar staff & security, but pints were no good. Maybe lines needed cleaning

Came here for a carvery this afternoon with my partner and son and it was fantastic. The staff were great, all so kind chatting with our young child. The chap serving the carvery (I assume the chef) went the extra mile and was so friendly and the food was delicious, and for such a reasonable price! Would definitely recommend and we will absolutely be back.

Me and my friends stayed the night and we couldn’t have been more grateful towards the staff. So friendly and helpful helping us celebrate ! The rooms are to be expected with what you pay. Nice little pub with good entertainment. Would absolutely stay again. Can’t thank them enough !

Pros first. 1. Staff are mostly brilliant. We generally receive a very warm, kind welcoming experience and great service when we come here. 2. We have not sampled the main menu but have had the carvery a few times and it has been great, with the chef going the extra mile in terms of service. 3. It is generally quite accessible. Although one entrance has a flight of steps, the other one at the back is wheelchair friendly and there is enough room between tables. It also has a disabled toilet. 4. It puts on regular entertainment, including live music and karaoke. 5. It's in a great location, by the cloctower at the bottom of Queen Street, very handy for Central Station. Now cons: 1. Toilets. They have positioned a table right next to the disabled toilet, which can mean having to ask people to move on a busy night when going in and out of it, which is discomforting. The other standard toilets are downstairs and the Gents is pretty grim and in dire need of a revamp. Peeling paintwork, buckets under the urinals and a near constant unpleasant smell are not welcoming. You don't expect a lot from loos in a city centre pub but you certainly hope for better than this one. 2. Despite the very high local student population, drinks are a bit pricy, although they do occasionally have drinks promotions. They offer accommodation but I have no idea what it is like as we have only ever visited it as a pub.

Good atmosphere, bit worrying seeing a bouncer on the door at 15:00 but don't let that put you off. Nice pub, worth a visit 👍 oh and the scampi was oooh la la, cheers

Thw food on a midweek evening was a biy ropey to be honest.

People were nice but the pub is a bit of a dump.

Was booked to stay here through booking.com but cancelled shortly after booking , app showed cancellation which I have proved to this hotel but farmers union took money from my account as said I was a no show , have emailed them and booking.com but no refund has been issued after multiple attempts I would say book somewhere else as not considered valued in any way

The staff's treatment was extremely poor.
