We got married at City Gate Hotel and it was awesome! The cellar downstairs is the perfect venue for a party of any nature - beautiful brickwork, great bar and seating. It also worked really well for serving our food which came out on platters that were delicious and well presented (thank you Marek and the other chefs)! We had a DJ and the space allowed for plenty of dancing. The bar staff were awesome, really friendly, hard working and a credit to the team! The ceremony took place in the stretch tent outside and new seating had recently been delivered which looked pristine. The planted borders and beautiful wisteria added to the charm and made for great photos. Our guests then enjoyed canapes in the beer garden and side room which again were very tasty. There are rooms in the hotel which our guests stayed in and it was wonderful to come down to breakfast with everyone the next day (it was also super convenient after the cellar party). The rooms are beautiful with lovely decor and were very clean. The location is also fab, a short walk to the city centre with car parks nearby and close to train stations. Jon the events manager was fantastic - we had quite a few meetings with him in advance to make sure everything ran smoothly. He was very enthusiastic and kind - he did all he could to accommodate our requests and gave us guidance on the event overall. He was always on hand via WhatsApp to communicate which was really helpful. We would 100% recommend having an event or wedding at City Gate Hotel. It completely exceeded our expectations and our guests had a brilliant time. We have wonderful memories to cherish forever. Thank you to Jon and all the team!! P.s. the fish and chips are the best in Exeter!
