Best Gay-Friendly Hotels in Palma

Last verified: October 2026. Palma has no gay hotel in its old town in 2026. All nine hotels and hostels in our listings are mainstream places that welcome gay guests, and we could not verify gay ownership at any of them. The only men-only property we found, Rainbow Home Mallorca, is about a 10-minute drive outside the centre, and we could not confirm that it is still open this year. The scene is small and spread across several pockets rather than one street. The old town has a bar and a sauna (Bar Flexas and Sauna Spartacus). Just north of Plaça d'Espanya there is a bar with two cruising clubs nearby. Santa Catalina has two LGBTQ-listed places, and out west is the last bar left from the old Gomila strip. So the real decision is which pocket to sleep next to. This guide covers that in walking minutes. It also covers the 2026 tourist tax, what happened to Pride this year, getting in from the airport, and the beaches.

Where to sleep, in real minutes

Palma's walkable gay zone is a north–south line rather than a district. It starts at Passeig del Born and climbs through the old-town lanes to Plaça Major. From there it follows Carrer de Sant Miquel north to Plaça d'Espanya, then crosses the ring road (the Avingudes) into the Nord streets around Carrer de Pablo Iglesias. End to end it is about 20 minutes on foot, flat, with people about until late on Fridays and Saturdays. Santa Catalina is 20–25 minutes west of the old town across Passeig de Mallorca. Bar Michel, on Avinguda de Joan Miró, is 40 minutes or more on foot from the old town, so in practice it is a taxi. Wave Club, where the Trantor parties run, is in the Son Castelló industrial estate and is a taxi from everywhere.

The times below come from the distances in our listings, adjusted for real streets. They are accurate for the flat old town but optimistic for El Terreno, where the walk home is uphill.

Old town around Plaça Major

This is where we would put most first-time visitors. Can Savella is a small turismo de interior, the Balearic licence for a historic townhouse with a handful of rooms. It is 2–4 min from Bar Flexas and 4–5 min from Sauna Spartacus on Carrer del Sant Esperit. Brick Palma on Carrer del Forn d'en Vila is about as close: 2–3 min to Flexas and 4–6 min to the sauna. It rates 4.4 on Google from about 950 reviews. El Josemari Hostel on Plaça Josep Maria Quadrado is the cheap option a couple of minutes away, 2–3 min from Flexas.

At 3 am these lanes are quiet, lit around the squares and darker in the side alleys. Palma is safe by European standards. The real risk here is pickpockets in the daytime crowds around Plaça Major, not violence. Noise depends on the room. A room over a square or a bar terrace will hear the weekend, and Josemari is a social hostel. Ask for an interior room if you sleep lightly. The walk to The2 in Nord is 18–21 min up Sant Miquel and across the ring road, which is easy at midnight. After 3 am most people take a taxi from Plaça d'Espanya.

Sa Calatrava and the eastern old town

Es Príncep on Carrer de Bala Roja is in the quiet south-eastern corner of the old town, near the Arab Baths and the sea walls. It averages 4.6 from more than 1,300 Google reviews. Through the lanes it is 9–11 min to Flexas and 12–14 min to Spartacus. The2 is 25–28 min away, which means a taxi at the end of a night. The streets around the hotel go silent early, which is the point. Good for couples who want to sleep.

Nord, north of Plaça d'Espanya

By number of venues this is the busiest gay pocket in the city, and it is the least attractive part of town to look at. The2 Palma Gay Bar is on Carrer de Pablo Iglesias, Fucktory on Carrer de Ramon Berenguer III and Dark Cruising Bar on Carrer de Ticià, all a few minutes apart. The Boc Hostels - Palma on Carrer Arxiduc Lluís Salvador is 2–3 min from The2, 5–6 min from Fucktory and 7–9 min from Dark. It is also 9–10 min from Plaça d'Espanya, where the A1 airport bus and the trains stop. It is a hostel with a young backpacker crowd, so treat it as a bed, not somewhere to bring company back to. At 3 am Nord is apartment blocks. It is not dangerous, just empty, and there is little to see by day.

Llevant, east of the old town

The Boc Hostels - City on Carrer de Son Pontivic is 10–12 min from The Hole's, the cruise bar on Carrer de Margalida Caimari, and 11–13 min from Flexas. It is a fallback if the old-town hostel is full. The streets in between are ordinary residential Palma and fine to walk late.

Santa Catalina

The former fishermen's quarter west of the old town is where Palma goes out to eat now. Marcela on Carrer de Sant Magí sells itself on burgers, cocktails and a gay crowd. La Dama de ELLA is on Carrer de la Fàbrica, the pedestrian restaurant street. None of the hotels in our listings is in Santa Catalina itself. From the old-town hotels it is 21–25 min on foot, and from Hotel Araxa it is 15–18 min downhill. If you want to sleep here, book a mainstream hotel in the quarter and use it as a base for dinners, with the other bars a taxi away.

El Terreno, Gomila and the bay

Plaça Gomila and Avinguda de Joan Miró were Palma's gay nightlife strip for decades, and guides still send people there. Judging by what is still open, little of the old strip is left, and Bar Michel is the only bar from that era we still list. We Hostel Palma on Carrer dels Germans Schembri is 2–3 min from it. Catalonia Majórica on Carrer de la Garita is 10–12 min away, near the bay and the Passeig Marítimo. Hotel Araxa on Carrer de Pilar Juncosa is 14–16 min on the map, but it is on the hill and you walk uphill to bed, so add 5 minutes. It now sells itself as adults only. From all three, the old-town bars are 39–51 min on foot, so take a taxi each way. The late walk east along the Passeig Marítimo is long, and we would not do it alone at 4 am.

Gay-owned, men-only and clothing-optional

We could not verify a single gay-owned, men-only or clothing-optional hotel inside Palma in 2026. Every property in our listings is a mainstream hotel or hostel that welcomes gay guests. That is how gay visitors actually stay here: in old-town boutique hotels and the bigger chains, booked as a couple, with no questions asked.

• Rainbow Home Mallorca. Package-holiday and hotel-comparison sites describe it as a boutique hotel for gay men only, with a pool, about 10 minutes by car from the centre of Palma. We could not find a 2025 or 2026 guest review, or an official site showing it is open this year. Treat it as unverified. Contact it directly, and do not prepay through a third party until you have a reply.
• Hostal Bonany. A modest hostal with an outdoor pool near Bellver, about a 10-minute drive from the centre. One gay booking platform lists it as gay accommodation. We found nothing to show it is gay-run, and it is not men-only.
• Villa Eden Es Trenc. A small four-bedroom house near the Es Trenc nudist beach on the south coast, recommended by gay travel sites for years. Its ownership and 2026 status are unverified.
• Adults only does not mean gay. Hotel Araxa and several chain hotels in Palma now sell themselves as adults only. That means no children, nothing more.

Clothing-optional time happens at the beaches, not the hotels. Platja del Mago at Portals Vells is an official nudist cove about 20 minutes' drive west of Palma. Es Trenc, about 40 km away on the south coast, has a nudist stretch. You need a car for both. Sauna Spartacus is men-only, has a heated pool and has been open for decades. Its hours and entry price change, so check before you go. Recent listings give afternoon-to-evening opening hours and an entry fee of about €10–12 (about US$11–14), with a cheaper day midweek.

Booking rules that bite

• Book two guests. If you are a couple, put both names on the booking. Spanish hotels must register every overnight guest with ID, and stricter rules since December 2024 mean they now collect more personal details. A second person who turns up unannounced at check-in may be charged as an extra guest, or turned away at a small turismo de interior that is full.
• Visitors. Palma has no culture of "joiner fees" for visitors, but a hotel can refuse to let an unregistered visitor into a room, and hostels generally do. Many small old-town hotels have no 24-hour desk, so ask how late arrivals work before you count on bringing someone back. If you expect company, a private room in a hotel with a night desk is better than a hostel.
• Tourist tax (ecotasa). The Balearic tourist tax is charged per person aged 16 and over, per night, plus 10% VAT. In high season (1 May to 31 October) it runs from €1 a night for hostels to €4 for top-category hotels. Mid-range hotels fall in between, so ask your hotel which rate applies. From 1 November to 30 April the tax is 75% lower, and from the 9th night in the same place it is halved again. It is usually paid at the hotel and is not included in the booking-site price. A proposed rise to €6 was not adopted for 2026.
• Old buildings. Turismo de interior hotels have only a handful of rooms, so cancellation terms can be stricter than at a chain, and there may be no lift. Read the room description, not just the photos.
• Summer pricing. June to September is high season in Palma whether or not there is a gay event. Book the old-town hotels well ahead for summer weekends. Some small hotels may set minimum stays at peak times (confirm before booking).



The gay calendar and where to book for it

Pride (Orgull), late June

Palma's 2026 Pride fell apart. Ben Amics, the island's LGBTQ association, cancelled its Pride street festival in May after a dispute with the city council. It also filed a complaint over how the council hired the company that organised the replacement. Pride weekend still happened:

• Palma amb Orgull, a free council-backed evening of music and drag in Plaça Major.
• Two separate marches from Plaça d'Espanya on Sunday 28 June 2026, one by Orgull Crític Mallorca and one by Ben Amics.
• A ticketed Pride party by Eleven Productions at Wave Club on Saturday 27 June.

Ben Amics has since asked the council to start planning 2027 now. As of October 2026, no 2027 dates or programme have been announced. Late June is the usual time, but do not book around a date until one is published. For Pride, stay in the old town. Plaça Major and Plaça d'Espanya were the centres this year. Can Savella, Brick and Josemari are a few minutes from Plaça Major and about 10 from Plaça d'Espanya.



Trantor and the party nights

Trantor, run by Eleven Productions, is the island's regular gay party. It is usually monthly, plus extra nights around holidays, at Wave Club in Son Castelló, from just before midnight to 6 am. The promoter announces dates a few weeks ahead, so nothing is published this far out. Euphoria, another pop-up party, has no dates announced either. For any of these, sleep in the old town or Nord and take a taxi there and back, because nothing is walkable from Son Castelló.

ELLA International Lesbian Festival, 26 August to 3 September 2027

The ELLA International Lesbian Festival is a week-long festival for lesbian, bisexual, trans and queer women and non-binary people. Most of it happens in Palma, and women come from more than 40 countries. The 2026 edition ran from 27 August to 4 September, and the 2027 edition runs from 26 August to 3 September. It falls at the end of peak season, when Palma is full anyway, so book as soon as you know you are going. Santa Catalina and the old town are the practical bases, and La Dama de ELLA is on Carrer de la Fàbrica.



Getting back at 3 am

• Airport to the centre. The EMT A1 bus runs from the airport to Plaça d'Espanya, Passeig de Mallorca and the edge of the old town in about 20–25 minutes. The cash fare is €5 (about US$5.50). Paying with a contactless bank card on EMT buses may be cheaper. From the airport, the first bus is at 05:30. Buses run every 12–15 minutes in the day and every 20 minutes in the evening until about 01:15, with a last bus around 02:15. Towards the airport, the first bus is about 04:17 and the last about 00:20. The island's 2026 free-travel scheme for buses and trains does not cover the A1 or A2 airport buses. A taxi from the airport to the centre costs about €20–30 (about US$22–33), depending on the time and where you are going.
• From the bars. Between Born and Nord you can walk. City buses run much less often after midnight, so do not count on them. For Wave Club, Gomila or the west-side hotels, take a taxi. There are taxi ranks at Plaça d'Espanya and on Passeig del Born, and you can phone for one. Ride-hailing apps cover Palma less well than the big mainland cities, so check yours when you arrive, not at 3 am.
• Walking safety. Born, Plaça Major, Sant Miquel and Plaça d'Espanya are fine late at night. Nord's streets are empty but not hostile. The Passeig Marítimo between the old town and Gomila is the walk we would skip alone at closing time. It takes 40-plus minutes and fills with club crowds when the bars empty. A taxi is worth it.

Health, safety and the law

• PEP. If you need post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP), go to the emergency department (urgencias) at Hospital Universitari Son Espases within 72 hours. It is the main public hospital, on the northern edge of the city. EU visitors should carry an EHIC card, UK visitors a GHIC, and everyone else should have travel insurance.
• PrEP and testing. Bring enough PrEP from home. Public PrEP in the Balearics is for residents and has had long waits. In 2023 the HIV charity ALAS (Associació de Lluita Anti-Sida de les Illes Balears) reported a wait of about a year to join the programme. For testing and local advice, contact ALAS or Ben Amics, and check their current addresses and hours before you go.
• Apps. Spain is safe for gay travellers, and the law fully protects you. The usual rules apply: meet in a bar first, tell someone where you are, keep valuables out of sight, and do not leave a stranger alone in your room. We found no reports of a pattern of dating-app robberies in Palma in 2025–2026. In June 2026, though, local organisations warned of a general rise in hate speech and attacks on LGBTQ people.
• Drugs. Carrying drugs for personal use in public, including in a car or at a club door, gets you a heavy fine under Spanish law, and dealing is a crime. Hotels will evict guests and charge for damage, and a hostel dorm is the worst possible place for chemsex.
• Street rules. Palma's civic bylaws allow fines of up to €3,000 for the worst offences. They cover drinking parties in public places, nudity and semi-nudity in the streets. Walking through town shirtless after the beach can get you fined. The Balearic government has also banned late-night alcohol sales in designated party zones, including Platja de Palma in Palma's municipality.
• Smoking and cannabis. Smoking is banned inside bars and restaurants. Most hotel rooms are non-smoking, with a cleaning charge if you ignore it. Cannabis is not legal to buy or use in public, and private cannabis clubs are for members, not tourists.

Three picks

Budget: The Boc Hostels - Palma. It is 2–3 min from The2 and within 10 minutes of both cruising clubs and the airport bus at Plaça d'Espanya. For a man travelling alone mainly for the Nord bars, no bed in our listings is closer. If you would rather be in the old town, El Josemari is the cheap choice, 2–3 min from Flexas.

Mid-range: Brick Palma. It is 2–3 min to Flexas and 4–6 min to Spartacus. The A1 stop at Plaça d'Espanya is about 10 minutes away, and The2 under 20. It rates 4.4 from about 950 reviews. For a short gay trip without a car, it is the most convenient address in the city. Can Savella is a smaller, quieter alternative 3–4 minutes' walk away.

Splurge: Es Príncep. It is the best-reviewed hotel in our Palma listings, 4.6 from more than 1,300 reviews, in the calm corner of the old town by the sea walls. Flexas is still 9–11 minutes on foot. You will need a taxi to Nord, which is a fair price for a silent night.
