Rio LGBTQIA+ International Film Festival

The festival behind this listing is RioLGBTQIA+, the Festival Internacional de Cinema LGBTQIA+ held in Rio de Janeiro each July. Its own archive starts in 2011, and 2026 was billed as the 15th edition.

The 2026 festival ran 2–8 July at the Instituto Cervantes in Botafogo, the Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil and the Instituto Italiano de Cultura in Centro, and Cine Carioca José Wilker, with more than 200 features, medium-length films and shorts from Brazil and abroad. It opened on 2 July at the Cervantes with Jone, a Veces, rated 18+. Competitive sections cover international features, international shorts and an animation strand called Div.A. Screenings at the Cervantes were free, with tickets picked up in advance through Sympla. The 2025 edition, 3–9 July, was smaller, with 138 films.

The 2027 dates hadn't been announced when we checked; the last two editions both opened in the first days of July.
