Antigua Casona San Blas

Hands down the best hotel in Cusco, and truly one of my favorites of all time. Every detail has been thoughtfully curated here at Antigua. The environment is serene and beautiful while all areas of comfort are being met. I look forward to staying here every time I visit, the warmth of the staff (shout out to Edwin!) and the variety AND quality offered at the spa and restaurant are unmatched. AMAZING breakfast included in room rate. Unique and gorgeous rooms. Elevated outdoor spaces. Wonderful yoga studio. Fantastic spa. Interesting artifacts. It is truly a one of a kind hotel where all of the guests needs have been considered, anticipated and met above and beyond. It's proximity to all the best sights, shops and restaurants are also a major plus, walking distance to the main square and some really great markets. From arrival to departure- I can't recommend this hotel enough, it exceeds all expectations and is absolutely worthwhile. Can't wait to come back again.

This review has been a long time coming, but hopefully it will make up for the time it’s taken to finally get around to it! Stayed here last June, during the Inti Raymi festivities. There was a kind note about potential noise on the table in the room, but it turned out I could barely hear any of it during the night, and it certainly didn’t disturb my sleep in the super crisp, clean & comfortable king size bed. An impeccable hotel experience, with attention to detail everywhere you turn, down to the candle and matches on a little shelf above the bathtub. Friendly and helpful staff; lovely little hangout room with complimentary tea & water by the reception; great room service; delicious and generous breakfast. Have eaten at the restaurant other times when not staying at the hotel and have enjoyed everything I’ve tried. Felt so luxurious and nourishing to stay here, and look forward to the next time! Can’t recommend it enough.

A fantastic hotel located in the heart of Cusco with a great history and superb staff. The breakfasts were a key highlight of the stay.

From the moment we arrived, everything about this stay felt intentional, thoughtful, and effortlessly elevated. We were given a room right next to the restaurant, and it’s so well designed that there’s complete soundproofing throughout the room ~ something we truly appreciated. It ended up being incredibly convenient for us since we mainly just wanted to relax and enjoy great food without going far. And the food genuinely surprised us ~ the level of gastronomy in this place is outstanding. On top of that, the service is impeccable: warm, attentive, and genuinely kind without ever feeling overdone. The space itself is tastefully curated ~ cozy, inviting, and perfectly in tune with the overall atmosphere of the hotel. Check-in was seamless ~ quick, smooth, and incredibly comfortable. A detail I absolutely loved: the infused water bottles waiting in the lobby fridge. Refreshing, delicious, and such a simple yet memorable touch (we enjoyed them so much we brought a couple up to the room). The room and overall facilities are designed with real care. The bathroom, in particular, stood out ~ thoughtfully laid out, with a small bench that made everything more practical and comfortable. But what truly elevated the experience was the candle and matchbox detail. Lighting it transformed the space into something deeply calming and personal ~ exactly what I needed after a slightly stressful travel day. It created a moment that felt grounding, almost like being at home. There’s also a thoughtfully curated selection of items for sale within the room ~ subtle, tasteful, and very well integrated into the space (even tucked under the desk). I genuinely loved this concept. If I had more space in my luggage, I definitely would have taken something with me. We also experienced one of their spa packages, and it was exceptional from beginning to end. The private couple’s circuit is perfectly timed ~ no need for more or less. The steam sauna followed by the jacuzzi was outstanding. And I have to say: the jacuzzi temperature was spot-on ~ better than many five-star hotels I’ve visited. The cold-water cascade feature was a brilliant addition; being able to cool down instantly made the entire experience even more enjoyable. The shower facilities were equally well-equipped ~ everything you might need, exactly where you expect it. The experience flowed naturally into a couples massage with aromatherapy, delivered by two therapists who were kind, respectful, and highly professional. You could feel the care and expertise in every detail. This entire experience ~ between the food, the rest, and the atmosphere ~ made my transition into the next leg of my journey feel effortless and exactly as it should be. And one last thing worth highlighting: being located in San Blas, where access can often feel complicated, the hotel has transportation completely dialed in. Our airport transfer was flawless, and the driver was excellent. Everything felt structured, smooth, and perfectly executed. Huge congratulations to the team behind this place. It’s clear that every detail has been carefully considered and thoughtfully implemented. This is absolutely a place you should experience if you’re visiting Cusco. Nia!

We stayed at Antigua Casona San Blas for four nights and it was easily our favorite hotel of the trip. The property itself is beautiful and full of character — a true boutique feel in the heart of the San Blas neighborhood — and the breakfast was excellent every morning. What really set this place apart, though, was the service. Of all the hotels we stayed at on this trip, the staff here were the most attentive and personable. I accidentally left some apparel behind after checkout, and they kindly held onto it so I could swing by and pick it up on the way to the airport. If I find myself back in Cusco, this is where I’ll be staying again. Highly recommend.

We stayed at Antigua Casona San Blas for three nights before our Salkantay Trek and returned for our final night in Cusco, and I couldn’t have made a better choice. From the moment we arrived until the day we left, the entire experience was outstanding. The hotel is beautiful, with lovely rooms and a peaceful atmosphere on a quiet street, close enough to everything but away from the noise. The service was exceptional. After our five days Salkantay Trek, the 2-hour Inka Trail Healing massage with Rosia and Judy was pure heaven. It was exactly what our bodies needed and the best post-trek recoveries we’ve ever had. Breakfast was fantastic every morning, and we were grateful for the early check-in on arrival. Each evening they placed hot water bottles in our beds to take the chill off the Cusco nights, and the muna tea was a soothing touch. The common area has a wonderful setup for coca tea, we loved grabbing a cup whenever we wanted and relaxing there playing board games. Antigua Casona San Blas felt like a true home base in Cusco. We’ll definitely be back on our next trip. Highly recommended! Thank you to the entire team for making our stay so special.

The service at this hotel is top- notch and so helpful, the hotel itself is beautiful, the rooms are wonderful and comfortable, and the breakfast is amazing. They have thought of all important conveniences and its truly one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in, and I’ve stayed in many— all kinds, too. Great location. I highly recommend it. Our stay at Antigua Casona San Blas was truly special. I traveled with my 5 year old, and we both had such a beautiful, memorable time. Our room was spacious and very comfortable, the mattress and pillows felt like sleeping on a cloud. And a lovely enclosed terrace overlooking greenery was such a peaceful touch. The design throughout the hotel is stunning, with beautiful art and furniture and a clear sense of care reflected in every item present. What really stood out for me was the impressive attention to detail: unlimited access to plastic-free purified, safe drinking water (so hugely important in this part of the world), a thoughtful house-blend tea with a kettle in the room, creatively folded blankets, and even a candle beside our divinely large bathtub. Every corridor feels like a gallery, filled with stunning Peruvian art and artifacts and we found ourselves wandering around in awe. The staff were consistently kind and helpful, the wifi worked perfectly, and the breakfast was outstanding: a generous spread combined with à la carte options. The pico de gallo was one of the best I’ve had, and the coffee was simply excellent. The building itself is truly magnificent and the hotel, in short, a truly beautiful place that we would return to without hesitation.
