⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 – everything was top-notch! Hotel Azucar is an absolutely fantastic place. Very clean, beautiful, and well-maintained in every detail. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and well-appointed. The staff is incredibly kind, helpful, and always smiling – from the reception desk to the waiters, who do a fantastic job. The location is perfect, and the access to the beach is simply wonderful – the beach is beautiful, peaceful, and atmospheric. A big plus for the rooftop pool and the pool in the garden – both are impressive. Everything is perfectly designed. A full 5 stars, honestly. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I definitely recommend it and would gladly return!

Stay in February 2026. On the 5th, we noticed several missing wallets belonging to family members. We contacted the hotel privately hoping to resolve the issue amicably, but received no response or further offer. We are noting this incident so that future guests can check their belongings and use the available security measures.

Amazing hotel, the best location in the hotel zone. Close to the best beach clubs and restaurants, clean beach, wonderful staff, and impeccable facilities. It’s only worth noting that due to the location, noise from neighboring venues can sometimes be loud, but it doesn’t interfere with sleeping—it’s mostly noticeable in the hotel’s common areas.

It's a nice place, but many things can be improved.

HORRIBLE!! They sell you an all-inclusive day, and it's not true!! The woman who greets you sells you an all-inclusive day for 900 pesos per person, but that's not the case!! In the end, if you spend more than 1800 pesos for two people, you pay the difference! There's an argument on the way out, the manager appears out of nowhere, and the waiter is clearly on your side. Finally, I paid the extra 1500 pesos, and we were able to leave!! GO TO NIKKEN BEACH!!!

SCAM. I booked this place in early October at a lower rate of $300 for a January trip. A month later, they claimed my perfectly valid credit card was declined — yet I received no charge attempt or notification from my bank. Now that they’ve cancelled my booking, the same room costs $900 per night. Total scam. AVOID THIS BOUTIQUE HOTEL SCAM.

Basically, someone on the staff stole a t-shirt I left at the beach club. They even confirmed that one of their waiters took it home. If this happens with such basic items, I can't imagine what happens with everything else. It's deplorable.

As if Tulum didn't have enough problems, THE MANAGER'S SERVICE IS THE WORST!

TERRIBLE SERVICE!!!! If you want to have a horrible day, you definitely have to come because the place is horrible the manager's attitude is horrible, it seems like you're doing her a favor

It's beautiful! The oceanfront pool is the most beautiful thing, and the entire design of the place is gorgeous.

This place needs to be rated 5 stars. I paid $43.70 usd for the cover to get in which is applied to your purchase of food and cocktails throughout the day. I ordered the spinach salad with chicken. To be picky, too much dressing, but it was honestly one of the best things I have ate while in mexico. Tony was my server and he was very friendly. Cocktails were buy 1 get one from 1 to 4, so the dollar stretched even further. Highly recommended, especially because so many other places are scams.

We’ve stayed at countless properties in Tulum over the years, and Azucar Hotel is easily one of our top favorites. To start, don’t let the old photos on Google mislead you — this property was completely torn down and fully rebuilt in October 2024, and the transformation is stunning. Everything feels brand new, with a modern Tulum aesthetic that blends natural stone, wood finishes, and lush landscaping to create a peaceful, high-end vibe from the moment you arrive. The rooms are beautifully done, even the standard ones feel upscale, but we opted for one of their bungalow-style suites — and that’s where this place truly shines. It felt like our own private retreat, complete with a small plunge pool right outside the door, surrounded by greenery and total tranquility. The property features multiple pools, each offering a unique experience. The ground-level infinity pool with a waterfall overlooks the beach and has such a relaxing atmosphere. There’s also a rooftop pool five floors up with panoramic views that are absolutely breathtaking, especially at sunset. The staff deserves their own shoutout — incredibly polite, friendly, and accommodating throughout our entire stay. The food also exceeded expectations. The grilled octopus is a must-try, and their burger was easily one of the best we had for lunch anywhere in Tulum. For breakfast, whatever you order, make sure to get a croissant on the side. They’re baked fresh onsite and genuinely one of the best we’ve ever had. Another huge plus is the location. Azucar sits right in the heart of the beach zone, directly across from Casa Banana and right next door to Kanan — two of the best restaurants in Tulum. You’re within walking distance of incredible dining, nightlife, and the beach, yet the property still feels calm, quiet, and perfectly tucked away. All around, Azucar Hotel is a hidden gem that deserves more attention. From the thoughtful design to the service, food, and location, it checked every single box for us. We’ll definitely be back — and we’ll be telling everyone we know to stay here too.
