The Gerber/Hart Library, Chicago's North Side, is the Midwest's largest LGBT library, and it's more than just books. It’s an archive and a community center.
You'll find an enormous collection here, all documenting the queer experience in the United States. If you're into LGBTQ+ history, culture, or literature, you could lose an afternoon just browsing the shelves, which are thoughtfully organized by genre and historical period.
Beyond the stacks, the library runs a regular schedule of events: author talks, educational forums, and quarterly book sales that are always popular. Those sales are a good way to snag a rare find and help the library keep running.
