About this place Andie's Restaurant

On North Clark Street, a family-owned Mediterranean spot for LGBTQ+ diners who want real food that doesn’t cost a fortune.

Andie’s has been around since 1965, a long run for any restaurant in Chicago's Northside. It’s a low-key place, where the hummus and falafel are solid, the kabobs taste like they should, and the prices stay put. You can get a lot of food for under $20, which, these days, feels like a minor miracle.

The place itself has a casual, easygoing feel. It’s not trying to reinvent the wheel, just serve good, honest Mediterranean food in a welcoming space. That means it’s always been a comfortable spot for LGBTQ+ travelers and locals looking for a meal that feels like home, or at least a friend’s kitchen. It’s the kind of restaurant where you can just show up and eat, no fuss.

Chicago’s LGBTQ+ scene has plenty of fancy options, but sometimes you just want something simple. Andie's fills that gap, doing what it does best: reliable food, friendly service, and a check that won’t make you wince. It’s open for lunch and dinner, and you can check their menu and hours at andiesres.com.

Gracie went out of her way to make sure my birthday was EXCELLENT with an online order I placed. It's extremely difficult these days to encounter people who actually REALLY CARE....AND FOLLOW THROUGH!!! Her beautiful warm and kind spirit transcends the phone and makes you feel special! I hope her boss and the owner take notice and reward her accordingly! My birthday is NOT my birthday unless I have Andies dolma & tiaramosu! Thanks Gracie, you really make a difference in those around you and in those you encounter along the way! May the LORD bless you in all your endeavors!

Normally, I love going to this restaurant. The food is excellent and definitely my top pick when it comes to Mediterrean food in the area. However, last night I experienced a truly disappointing show of service, or lack thereof. My fiancée and I were seated, and it took over half an hour for us to even be offered water. By the time we did get water, all we received was a short hello, glasses of water, and then the water walked away before we could even mention we were ready with our order (which we had ready for the past half hour). Then, we waited ANOTHER 40 minutes for no waiter to come by and check on us, but the tables next to us were emptied and cleared. We finally gave up and left to receive a cheerful "thanks for coming!", as though we hadn't been waiting for over an hour to even be ASKED to order. A very disappointing night. Understandably, Saturday nights are busy but considering that the tables next to us had been vacated and cleared while we waited, it's honestly shocking they seemed to have just forgotten us entirely. They also seemed to ignore or not notice our attempts to waive a waiter down. We would like to come again because we've had and loved the food before, but this did sour our night. Hopefully, the staff can do better with noticing and remembering to attend to ALL their customers.
