Cold-hearted and manipulative. In 2023 while I was transitioning from homelessness, Zainab invited me to her office for help with move-in expenses. I made the trip in from the west side -- only to be ghosted, lied to, gaslit, and denied help -- apparently because I didn't need their health care resources. I was truly blindsided by this bizarre & capricious turn of events, which may have been linked to racial animus.
I am a part of their program via Northside Supportive Housing and have been for four years and most of the women who were placed with them were homeless and never got the supportive housing services through them.
Been reaching out to AFC BOUT the worker they have not standing to their part of what was told to when I got in the program
These people are truly amazing. I WALKED in,.I wasn't turned away for not having an appt. And thank God that was the case. I went on one of the toughest darkest days of my life with needs for housing, medical, emergency food, everything. The case worker assigned to my is Germain and he is amazing. He truly care for your well being and treats you like a human being and genuinely wants to see you succeed. These are the type of people one needs most in times of need. Thank you AFC for your help and attentiveness.
When AFC first opened its doors, the staff consisted of phenomenal individuals who went above and beyond for clients. Unfortunately, it seems that the current staff may not have the same level of experience and understanding. It's been challenging working with young caseworkers who may have limited case management experience and may not fully grasp the experiences of clients living with HIV. During the period when I was homeless, my caseworker, Z, didn't provide the support I needed to navigate available services. While she did call me and leave stuoid messages wishing me a wonderful day, the assistance I was hoping for didn't materialize. Additionally, the Housing Department didn't return my numerous calls. It's disheartening to feel let down by an organization that should provide crucial support.
