About this place Pieces Bar

Pieces Bar on Christopher Street in Greenwich Village is a gay bar that’s easy on your wallet and big on fun.

They’ve redone the lounge area, and the decor changes with the seasons, so it never feels stale. You won’t pay a cover, ever, and there are daily drink specials. It’s the kind of place you can drop into for a quick drink or make your main stop for the night.

Something’s always happening here. Every single night, there's a show or a party. The bartenders are good people, too, which helps keep the mood light and friendly. And when it gets cold in New York, a free coat check is a nice touch.

Greenwich Village has history, and Pieces fits right in with the neighborhood’s queer scene. While New York has a million different bars for different tastes, this one on Christopher Street keeps it simple: good times without a huge tab. It’s a place to hang out, meet people, and catch a show without breaking the bank.

Updating my review: I understand the pricing rationale to an extent, but it still doesn’t completely track. As others have noted (here and at Hardware and Balcon), a Surfside is listed several dollars higher than a cocktail. My friend paid less for a Grey Goose drink. I understand a Surfside may cost more on your end, but from a customer perspective it’s surprising to see a low-ABV canned drink priced above a premium cocktail. We chose it for a lighter option. At that price, it feels more like liquor store pricing than bar pricing and comes across as misleading. My husband and I genuinely enjoy coming here, which is why this stood out.
