About this place POC Lounge (Pride of Cambodia)

POC, short for Pride of Cambodia, is a gay lounge at 129 Preah Ang Yukanthor Street (Street 19), close to the Royal Palace. Older listings give a previous address on Street 15. It opens daily from 17:00 and stays open until 04:00, with DJs and drag or other performers on Friday and Saturday nights. Guides describe the crowd as mostly local gay men with some visitors. Is there a certain age requirement? Like 21+ or 18+?

Absolutely the most horrific experience I’ve ever had at a gay bar. The staff and dancers are lovely and innocent. The owner/DJ is a psychopath, no exaggeration. I requested Whitney, and he originally said ok but only if I buy him a drink. Ummm no. He ended up playing the song which I liked but then said I owed him a drink. I said patrons shouldn’t have to pay for a music request. It escalated quickly and he threw a full drink not once but twice in my face. When I said I shouldn’t pay since he threw multiple drinks in my face he literally drew a bottle out of the cooler and threatened to smash it on me. I paid my full bill out of fear and burst into tears. Never in all my travels of 55 countries have I felt so unsafe and uncomfortable. The owner of this establishment is a horrible human being. The workers are lovely and collateral damage. By far my most horrible experience in my 3 years abroad. Response to owner: I was not rude to the staff or any customers. They were all helping me when you decided to throw 2 drinks in my face. I only used bad words when you were being extremely rude to me and demanding I buy you, the owner who can drink for free, a drink for playing a song. Even still there’s no excuse for an owner to throw 2 drinks in a patron’s face and threaten them with violence. Absolutely disgusting behavior. I would report it to the police if I thought it would make a difference.

Very friendly and reasonable prices. The act makes it worthwhile although at other times it can feel very quiet and parochial for a weekend night.

I really like this bar. Very friendly and the best cocktails I've had here. Worth the money. A good atmosphere. I'll be back every time I'm in Cambodia.
