About this place Tel Aviv LGBTQ Center (Gan Meir)
The Tel Aviv LGBTQ Center is the city-run community centre for LGBTQ+ residents. It opened in 2008 at the southern end of Gan Meir park, at 22 Tchernichovsky Street just off King George Street. It hosts community groups, meetings and cultural events, and the HaMeshulash LGBTQ theatre performs in its auditorium. For a visitor it's the simplest place to find out what's happening that week.
Right outside is Israel's memorial to people persecuted by the Nazis for their sexuality and gender identity, unveiled in 2014. Nearby is a small cactus garden planted in memory of the victims of the 2009 Bar-Noar shooting.

The Gay Center complex in Gan Meir - with Alma Cafe - is excellent. The building has been renovated and is cozy and beautifully decorated. The service providers are charming and the food is fresh and delicious. The carrot cake is excellent.
