I won’t gatekeep, this place is wonderful! Perfectly located close to Kyoto station and in the heart of the city, kind and attentive service, a delicious breakfast, peaceful and quiet with the most beautiful inner courtyard and garden. Plenty of overpriced lodging options in Kyoto—this isn’t one of them.

We stayed at Auberge Azabu for 4 nights in March 2026 and absolutely loved it. Wonderful rooms, staff and food. They have an option for dinner which we took advantage of the first night and I suggest to you if you have the opportunity to do so - do it. The couple who own this boutique hotel cook and serve the meal along with the help of their excellent staff. He has cooked for over 30 years in Paris - and it shows in a truly special meal. In my opinion a Michelin meal. The rooms are well appointed, and as there are only 5 you should book early. This fact also means you get well taken care of. If you are older - try and secure the ground floor room - there is only one - no stairs and a little better seating. The nicest compliment I can give the Auberge Azabu is that I would stay there again in a heart beat. I will retain the fond memories of a wonderful stay here.

I’m so glad we found Azabu when we were looking for a place to stay in Kyoto! You can tell from the first moments checking in that the owners and staff are passionate about making sure their guests have a relaxing stay. They provided tips about the local area and helped us book some fantastic restaurants they recommended. The location is a two minute walk from a metro station that connects to everything (one stop from Kyoto Station). The accommodations were comfortable and beautiful. We had the garden view room on the ground floor, which opens onto lovely Japanese gardens on both sides. The huge tub in this room also has a private garden view. Dinner and breakfast at the restaurant were delicious, especially the amazing French dinner with seasonal Japanese ingredients. We highly recommended Auberge Azabu!

We stayed at a nearby hotel that didn't offer breakfast. We asked here if they could provide it and they said yes. The breakfast was delicious and had a great variety. Lovely staff.

We stayed in this beautiful Ryokan in Kyoto for three nights. Small and secluded the spaces so tranquil and our room was beautiful and comfortable. Breakfast is of an amazing quality with plenty of it! The staff were so personal and kind. Don’t hesitate to book here if you can grab one of there briefly five rooms.
