About this place Sauna & Capsule Hotel Rumor Plaza

Located in the historic Gionmachi area of Kyoto's Higashiyama Ward, Rumor Plaza combines two practical amenities for travelers: a sauna facility and capsule-style accommodation. This venue caters to LGBTQ+ guests seeking affordable lodging in one of Japan's most culturally significant cities. Capsule hotels are a uniquely Japanese accommodation option, offering compact but efficient private sleeping pods at budget-friendly rates—ideal for solo travelers or those looking to keep costs down while exploring Kyoto. The sauna component provides a relaxation space popular in Japanese hospitality culture. This venue type reflects the hospitality you'll find in Kyoto's growing LGBTQ+ scene. The absolute best value for money you will find in Kyoto. Amazing Japanese breakfast buffet, kind staff, and lovely sauna/baths.

I stayed for one night and it was fantastic overall! The facilities are generally new and spotlessly clean. It's comfortable enough to walk around barefoot. Having to wear slippers every time you ride the elevator is a bit of a hassle. Personally, I'd prefer to use the stairs. It's a shame there are almost no water dispensers in a sauna facility. There are multiple saunas and cold plunge pools, but they're not gimmicky or entertainment-focused; they're simply designed to suit individual preferences, which is great. The capsules have calming indirect lighting and backrests. Complimentary drinks and earplugs are provided. There are also luggage hooks and handrails, making it extremely comfortable. The breakfast buffet is also varied and delicious. I've stayed in several capsule hotels, but this is the best.

Spent 2 nights here as base stop for visiting Kyoto downtown and Uji. As it is nearby train and bus stations, navigation is easy. Unbelievably quiet even in the busiest part of the city. Value for money is also there.
