Good Nature Hotel Kyoto

Large room, amazing location.

By far is the nicest place we have stayed in Japan. The buffet breakfast is exceptional and the rooms are clean, well organized, large, and very comfortable. We especially enjoy the relaxing porch. The hotel is also well situated in the heart of Kyoto.

Wow! No doubt one of the best placec we've been in Japan. Visited there for four nights, great views, great location, great food and great staff. The elevator is slow though. Five stars.

Fantastic Location and in the biZ of the city and yet not a crowded location

Everything was excellent: spacious rooms, outstanding service, relaxing lounge and spa, great breakfast, and a perfect location in the heart of Kyoto. The hotel also offers excellent restaurants and cafés, including Michelin-starred dining. Beautiful design, a unique atmosphere, and attention to every detail. One of the best hotels we stayed at in Japan. Highly recommended.

The gym is inadequate. The rooms are nice.

We had a wonderful stay at Good Nature Hotel Kyoto, and it was a big part of why we enjoyed the city so much. We were unexpectedly upgraded to a Kawaramachi Suite and couldn’t believe how spacious it was! The room felt modern, beautifully designed, spotless, and incredibly relaxing after long days of exploring Kyoto. What I particularly appreciated about the hotel is that its sustainability philosophy never feels like a compromise for guests. Instead, it enhances the experience. The whole property has a calm, spa-like feel while still offering all the comforts and touches you'd hope for from a luxury stay. We loved having the fridge replenished daily with Japanese beers and juices, and the lounge was a great place to unwind. The staff were warm and attentive throughout our stay, and the location is excellent – Nishiki Market (including the famous sparrow yakitori for adventurous eaters), Pontocho Alley, and Gion are all within easy walking distance. We felt cared for and would happily stay here again!

Good service overall

Good Nature Hotel is a fantastic base if you want to be in the heart of Kyoto. We stayed in one of the suites for 5 nights as 2 adults 1 child (4y). This hotel doesn’t have trundle beds and they make up the couch for a child - do we requested extra blankets and just did it ourselves. Silly as these suites are the perfect size for a small family. Our room faces towards Kyoto central and was loud. We were on a top floor and could very clearly hear the chirping of the pedestrian crossing below, let alone the ridiculous motorbikes that rev up and down the street all night long (literally). Aside from that the room was spacious, comfortable and good for a longer stay like ours. I visited the spa and had a fantastic massage too. Prices were consistent with what you’d pay back in AUS at an Endota - so not cheap. The staff were OK. Definitely not welcoming or overly helpful, but they did their job. Two things to note - bike parking downstairs only opens at 10am each day. If like us you didn’t notice that when storing your bike overnight you’ll get stuck and need to ask reception to ask security to let you in early. Also the laundry is only open from 10am-6pm. Pretty laughable when that’s the prime time to be out and about - not at the hotel doing laundry! Just go anyway. It’ll feel awkward and like you’re not meant to be there, but you can still get in.
