The Hatsune Guesthouse was a great place to stay while visiting Kyoto. It is centrally located, making it easy to walk or take public transit to all the major attractions in the Kyoto area, ranging from the geisha district in Gion, to the bamboo forest in Arashimaya, and the thousands Torii gates at Fushimi Inari Taisha. The rooms are comfortable and include a mini fridge, single hot plate and hot water pot, if you want to store or heat up food in your room. Kevin the manager was super friendly and helpful. The lobby is not staffed 24 hours a day, but access in and out, as well as check in and check out was very easy. If you are looking for a comfortable place to stay, that is affordable and centrally located, and you don't need all the amenities of a large hotel, Hatsune Guesthouse is definitely recommended.

The location is a 10-minute walk from JR Kyoto Station, a 5-minute walk from a 24-hour supermarket, chain restaurants, a laundromat, and a bathhouse, and a 20-minute walk from the bustling Kawaramachi district. It's also easily accessible by bus or subway. The Japanese-style rooms have lovely tatami mats and a beautiful tributary of water in front, perfect for relaxation. The owner will assist with pick-up and drop-off and will be happy to answer any questions. Highly recommended.

Really lovely location by the river and has a lift. The room was spacious with a balcony and everything was so clean. Kevin was also lovely and so kind, sharing with us a whole list of activities which we unfortunately were unable to visit due to already having an itinerary but if you have no plans you can rely on his recommendation! Also helpful to note you are able to leave your luggage ahead of check in and check out! Kevin’s communication was amazing and helpful so definitely recommend this stay!

Really great guesthouse on a canal, very near to the river - North from the station, South from Nishiki market - couldn't pick a better location! Kevin was EXTREMELY helpful, and our room was great - overlooking the canal, clean, comfortable, with everything we could possibly need.
