About this place Hotel Ariane

Hotel Ariane is a solid, unpretentious pick for LGBTQ+ travelers in Cologne, putting you squarely in the middle of things without any fuss.

You’re looking at a modern hotel that nails the basics: clean, comfortable rooms, nothing fancy. It’s also just a four-minute walk from the Heumarkt tram station, which gets you all over town. Plus, you can easily walk to the Fragrance Museum and Cologne Cathedral from here.

Rooms come with free Wi-Fi, en suite bathrooms, flat-screen TVs, and a desk. Every morning, there's a free buffet breakfast in a casual dining room. If you’re driving, free parking is a nice perk. Basically, it’s a place that lets you save your money and energy for exploring Cologne itself, not for hotel bells and whistles.

Cologne has a big, open LGBTQ+ community and a lively gay quarter. Staying at Hotel Ariane means you’re right there, close to the bars, restaurants, and nightlife. It’s a convenient, gay-friendly spot with everything you need, whether you’re in town for Pride, a quick trip, or just to see the city.

A disaster, the worst stay ever

Please avoid. I put one star just because it’s close to the city center. Since one year they do not offer the breakfast anymore and the cleaning service does not exist. Dust and spiders’ nets all over the place.

Anyone staying there shouldn't be too fussy. The rooms are very basic and in need of renovation. The bathroom is also in need of renovation. The hallway carpet and walls were already stained and covered in dirt. Behind a small door, something truly awful awaits. See photo. We definitely won't be staying there again.

There was no air conditioning in the room, so it was unbearably hot, and the standard household fan was of little to no help. There was also a problem with the water flow in the bathroom; it was very hot and barely cooled down, making showering extremely difficult and even then, only partially effective. Furthermore, the elevator was completely out of order on Saturday evening, and the staff at the counter said they weren't responsible, so I had to walk up the stairs to the fourth floor in the sweltering heat, laden with luggage. The hotel's location is good to very good, but that's about all the positive things I can say about it.

The reception will give you your room even at 8:00 in the morning. Super

My room is clean and comfortable. The staff welcomes you with a smile and helps you in need. Tourist attractions are near and you do not need to get on a tram or train. Being in the city center makes it easy to shop and eat out. Nice hotel.

Very bad! Too expensive & dirty rooms.
