About this place The Nest Boutique Hostel

The Nest Boutique Hostel is a gay-friendly accommodation option located in Galway, one of Ireland's most colorful and welcoming cities. Situated on Upper Salthill Road, the hostel offers a boutique approach to lodging, combining intimate, thoughtfully designed spaces with the social atmosphere that hostel stays are known for. This makes it an excellent choice for solo travelers, groups of friends, or anyone looking to meet other guests in a relaxed environment. Galway has become increasingly known for its vibrant LGBTQ+ community and progressive atmosphere. The city's compact, bohemian character means most attractions, restaurants, and social venues are within easy reach. Staying in the Salthill area places you near the seaside promenade and close to the city center's cultural offerings, live music venues, and nightlife. For travelers exploring the west coast of Ireland, this location offers convenient access to both urban amenities and natural attractions like Connemara and the Aran Islands. As a boutique hostel with LGBTQ+ credentials, you can expect a welcoming environment from staff and a guest base that values inclusivity. Whether you're traveling for a weekend getaway, a longer Irish adventure, or to experience Galway's renowned cultural scene, this accommodation provides a social and comfortable base. This is such a nice hostel. I live in Dublin but grew up in the USA, so this was my first hostel experience. I only stayed one night but it was a great night and I slept like a log. I stayed in a mixed dorm with 6 beds and stayed in a lower bunk. The room was full except for one bed and everyone was nice and polite. Staff were pleasant and responsive. The €8 breakfast was tasty and price appropriate. Amenities were clean. I didn’t use the shower but I heard from others that the water pressure was excellent. I checked in at 3:30pm and checked out at 10am. As a single woman traveling alone, I felt very safe. Will definitely stay here again for my next trip to Galway.

Even though the rooms are quite small...it's a hostel after all... I would book there again... nice people, great location near Salthill Beach. 20 minutes walk to the city, three to the beach... What more could you want? And by the way: delicious breakfast...

Careful when booking and agreeing rate. . We booked direct with this hostel to avoid them paying platform fees and were given a rate of €65.50. we received automated confirmation and an email confirmation of the booking straight away. Over 2 weeks later they contacted us to say the rate was incorrect and should be €170 which they said we either had to pay or cancel. They offered us a goodwill gesture of 10%, €153, which we discovered was just the going rate on Booking.com so we were gutted the “goodwill” was totally insincere. We had to cancel the booking because we were not happy with the way we were being treated and felt that if the discount was halfway between what we had paid we may have accepted it, seeing as it wasn’t our fault for the error. We have also not received any form of response to the follow up email we sent them explaining we couldn’t pay the higher rate as we’re on a careful budget. I would be careful booking this as it seems they are prone to changing rates post booking confirmation. We have seen another review here which had a much worse experience than us.

We had a wonderful time in this hostel! Our room was quite large and with large accessible bathroom. In the front of the house are five parking slots for guests. We always got a parking space there for the time of our stay. The vegetarian breakfast is affordable and it has everything what you need if you don’t miss ham or salami. The French press coffee was very good and I liked the granola with yoghurt and freshly baked croissants. the shared kitchen is perfect to make a coffee or a small meal, everything was very tidy and the staff was friendly and professional. The area is perfect for stay; quiet in the night and next to Salthill Coast and Galway city. I can highly recommend it!

A great deal and adorable hostel right next to the beach in Galway. We booked a twin room and it was very comfortable and had everything we needed. The staff was very friendly and the parking was secure. We really enjoyed our stay.
