Clarion Hotel The Hub

Excellent hotel with a prime location, opposite the train station and just around the corner from Oslo's main street. I highly recommend it.

Everything is clean, very modern system. Welcoming staff.

Had to call 5 times to tell them we were arriving late. The number we were supposed to call was no longer in service. Put in line to wait for an answer for 25 minutes. Then we were put on an answering machine. Terrible number of pillows on the bed in the room. Poor lighting. Missing ceiling light in bedroom. Dirty teaspoons in the room. Busy breakfast with LOTS of people coming and going. A colleague who wanted to buy a cup of coffee at breakfast was denied both access and coffee.

A very nice hotel. The rooms are comfortable, well-decorated with good bedding and a large bathroom. The staff is very helpful. The breakfast is amazing, and the gluten-free selection is the best I've had in my travels.

I have to admit it right away: this isn't the kind of hotel I usually stay in. 810 rooms, endless corridors, a constant crowd in the lobby... Not really my cup of tea, normally. I prefer smaller, more characterful places, boutique hotels where the staff knows you by your first name by the second morning. And yet. The location initially convinced me not to leave: right in the heart of Oslo, a two-minute walk from the metro and tram, ten minutes from the Opera House. It's hard to find a better location for exploring the city without breaking the bank on taxis. What really surprised me was that despite the size of the place, the service remained personal. The staff was attentive and responsive, and the breakfast—generous, varied, and beautifully presented—was worth a good portion of the room rate on its own. The Norda restaurant on the 13th floor, with its Nordic fusion cuisine and fjord views, has restored my faith in the idea of ​​eating in a hotel—something I rarely do. The indoor pool and sauna are a real bonus for a city-center hotel at this price. And the rooms, while admittedly standardized (it is a chain hotel, after all), are comfortable, well-equipped, and quiet. In short, it's not my ideal hotel. But if you're looking for a solid, well-located, and honest base in Oslo without breaking the bank, the Clarion The Hub does the job—and then some.
