Deeply negative experience. Told on arrival that our reservation was cancelled and were to be moved to a hotel outside the city centre while watching other groups check-in without issue. Do yourself a favour and stay quite literally anywhere else.

Grand Hotel Oslo Our experience at the Grand Hotel Oslo was disappointing. We understand that the hotel was experiencing a staff strike; however, we received no prior notification by email or message that would have allowed us to anticipate the situation or find alternative accommodations. This created a very uncomfortable situation upon arrival. Upon arrival, we were relocated to a 3-star hotel, despite having booked a junior suite. We were told we would be transferred to a hotel of a similar category, but the reality was very different, and the difference in quality and experience was noticeable. Overall, we felt that the handling of the situation was not up to the standard expected of a hotel of this category, especially regarding communication and the equivalence of the change offered.

Stayed here for a wedding and had a very bad experience. Nothing extra was done in terms of decoration or anything in the room even though it was stated that the stay was for a wedding. Minibar had hardly any content, and was not replenished after day 1. Perhaps the saddest selection of a mini bar I have ever seen and definitely not what you should expect in a 5 star hotel. Other hotels in the same class are in a completely different league. No help was offered with carrying luggage to the room. Wanted to order room service to the room, but was greeted by someone on the other end of the phone who answered with a rude tone. The rooms were of a good standard, but again this is a minimum requirement for hotels in this class. Breakfast was also good. This hotel should not be called a 5 star hotel and does not even come close to hotels like Brittania in terms of quality. Not recommended, you can find better hotels than this which is actually Max is 4 star.

My stay at Grand Hotel Oslo was absolutely exceptional and truly worthy of its historic reputation. The hotel combines timeless elegance with modern comfort. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the beautiful architecture, refined interiors, and luxurious atmosphere. Every detail reflects classic Scandinavian sophistication. The location is unbeatable, right on Karl Johans gate in the heart of Oslo and within walking distance of the city’s most important landmarks. The rooms were elegant, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed, making the stay both relaxing and memorable. The service was impeccable professional, attentive, and welcoming throughout my visit. What makes this hotel truly special is its rich history and iconic status. Staying here feels like experiencing a piece of Norwegian heritage. Overall, a world class hotel experience elegant, historic, and absolutely unforgettable

Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. We booked connected rooms for our family travelling with two 2-year-old children. Upon arrival, there was nobody available to help with luggage. We were then informed that the hotel was operating under strike conditions with only “limited services” available. Apparently guests are somehow expected to know this in advance when travelling internationally. What makes this worse is that we had spent over an hour on the phone with reservations a week earlier specifically discussing connected rooms. Upon arrival, we were told we had “never booked” connected rooms at all. The proposed solution? Putting our 24-month-old children alone in a separate non-connected room. Completely unacceptable and frankly absurd from a safety perspective. After insisting, we were moved into a so-called family room, which was far from what we booked or expected. There was not even a proper separating door between us and the children. At the same time, another guest beside us was arguing with reception over a similarly terrible experience. One member of our group also discovered their room had not been properly cleaned, with trash still left inside. The situation inside the hotel was surreal: - The bar was closed for the entire weekend - The restaurant operated with an extremely limited menu (burger, Caesar salad, pasta, and two other basic dishes) - No room service - No proper housekeeping - Minimal staff despite the hotel being full The entire property appeared to be run by roughly three employees, somehow keeping their smile up and trying to be positive, while management was nowhere to be seen. What is most shocking is that the hotel continues charging full luxury prices while providing barely operational service levels. This is not remotely acceptable for a luxury hotel and, in my opinion, the hotel should never have remained open under these conditions without clearly informing guests in advance.

Now I wasn't at the hotel that much, but the little time I was there was nice, but I think it's a place that is recommended...

We stayed at this hotel and were very disappointed. There was no service, only one receptionist. Our room lacked any of the amenities expected of a 5-star hotel. We were not helped with our luggage or informed about the hotel's amenities. The only positives were the breakfast and the location. We won't be returning.

We even stayed there over New Year's Eve, and every time we return, it confirms everything we love about this hotel: elegance, atmosphere, and impeccable service. The hotel perfectly blends history and modernity. The rooms are refined, with attention to detail, evoking that feeling of warmth and welcome that only great hotels can provide. Our room was bright, quiet, and equipped with every comfort, impeccably clean, and had a truly comfortable bed. Breakfast deserves a special mention: simply extraordinary: fresh products, a wide selection, the highest quality, and attentive, cheerful service. It's one of those moments that transform a stay into something special. The location is perfect for experiencing Oslo: central, elegant, and close to everything. Every time we leave the hotel, we feel like we're in the heart of the city. Returning here, every time, is like finding a familiar place, one that welcomes you with class and makes you feel important. The Grand Hotel Oslo is, for us, a point of reference: a place to return whenever we want to treat ourselves to something truly special. Highly recommended! 👍😊
