We stayed here twice for a night each at the start and end of our Norway trip. Both times the room was nice and clean, and we even got a free late checkout on our final night from the lovely staff.
Noisy room, music until 4:00 am, ventilation noise all night
Stayed here for one night in May. The location is very central, about a 7-minute walk from Nationaltheatret metro station, and close to both Stortinget and Akershus Fortress. The room was relatively small, but perfectly adequate for a short business stay. The bathroom was also quite compact, but this wasn’t an issue for me. One slightly unusual detail – the room had a balcony, but it didn’t face outdoors. Instead, it overlooked the indoor breakfast area. Breakfast is generally something I appreciate at Thon hotels, and this was no exception. There was a great selection of both hot and cold options. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. Staff here was also very friendly, greeting everyone "good morning". On the downside, there was some noise from what I assume was a nearby piano bar. In addition, during breakfast it was possible to hear mobile phone alarms going off from nearby hotel rooms, which was a bit distracting. In general a good choice. Nothing fancy or anything but pricing seems ok and the breakfast is a good plus 👍
Edited *** After the hotel management helped us move to a different room, we were able to catch some sleep. So make sure you request a quiet room if you’re staying in this location. The location and breakfast are great. Reception is horrible at least the ones we had to deal with. We understand the hotel is in the center of the city and what could come with that. However, not everyone staying in the city is for the party. We like to explore and do outdoor things all day, and come to our room and rest fully until the next day. That was impossible in this place. For the first 4 days, noise from the construction next door was unbearable. We were told the hotel was full and that ear plugs were the only things that could provide. Then at night, we were next to or on top of a piano bar and that went on until 4 am, every-single-night. That being said, if you’re here to party, knock yourself out. If you enjoy the outdoors and what to get some sleep, not the place for it.
