City Box Oslo

There is budget and then there is Citybox. Firstly, in Oslo the word 'budget' must mean something very different than in the UK. The room was clean, the shower good (I rate a hotel by the shower). No kettle, no TV. USB socket in lamps, good WiFi. Coffee machine in communal area with small kitchen area including. Microwave. Thay said - it's ok.

Central location, clean, terrific bath, common areas were very useful, comfortable bed. Wonderful experience!

No. No. No. The entrance was a disaster. It was chaos. They were filming something at the entrance. Too many people. No one to help you. Four machines. No one to ask for help. The machine dispensed the key, and it didn't work. We went to the "host office." No one looked us in the eye. They practically scolded us for not working the card/key. They asked where we got it from (?!) From their machines. They didn't believe us. Finally, they changed them twice. Towel racks in the middle of the "lobby" and in the hallways. Overall, the staff was very rude. The room was small, but the bathroom was even smaller. If you're tall, you simply won't fit. If you don't have your key (we went out to the restaurant, which you can access from inside the building), you can't get back in. There's no bell for someone to let you in. The only good thing is that you can leave your bags in the locker and come back for them later. Oh, and the location. But no, I wouldn't go back.

Good location. Dirty room with no air (very stuffy). Windows can’t stay open throughout the night. Choose somewhere else.

This hotel is a bit like Oslo itself: don't expect much! The amenities are really basic, but it does the job if you're not too fussy. The hotel is ideally located, but for a pleasant or romantic weekend, forget it. The atmosphere in the common areas is more like a hostel than a hotel. Check-in is self-service, and the rooms aren't cleaned daily. We chose a standard double room, and the space is minimal, just enough to walk around the bed. And to top it all off, a direct view of a wall about four meters from the window!

Hands down, one of the worst places we've stayed for the money. Has nearly a hostel-like feeling. Our room was dirty upon check in, including a large disgusting-looking stain on the carpet. Sink didn't drain properly. No place to set any belongings down in the bathroom. No facial tissues,, no washcloths. Only one coffee pod in the two-guest room. The room overlooked a very busy and loud intersection. Asked the front desk if we could have a different room; they claimed there was nothing else available. Asked her to do something about the filthy carpet. She said she'd send housekeeping up. Later in the day, asked another front desk person why the carpet hadn't been cleaned. He told us they only clean once every three days (no notification of this upon booking or robot check-in). We told him that his colleague had assured us someone would come clean the room anyway. This was news to him; he said he'd call housekeeping; as of now, nothing has happened. In addition to this, there's a closed-in musty smell in the hallway, and some of the public areas also seemed not that clean. At no time did either of the front desk people express any regret or apology for our dissatisfaction and inconvenience. We plan to avoid this place entirely in the future.

An EXTREMELY SMALL room! Self-Check in worked marvellous, all procedures happened flawlessly. The Hotel itself is only a few minutes away from the main station and many interesting points like the opera are only another few minutes away by foot.
