The only flaw is the stairs with high steps that are a bit difficult to climb with a suitcase.
We rented an apartment for 4 people which turned out to be a bit small, very cramped and with little variety of utensils.
Due to overbooking at the "First Hotel Amalie," guests were accommodated at the "First Hotel Viking"—apparently, this was arranged internally without the guest's knowledge or influence. The rooms are clean and simply furnished, but not up to the standard booked at the "Amalie." Windows facing the main street are difficult to open, the advertised refrigerator in the room is broken, and numerous drill holes indicate previous furnishings. Breakfast must be taken to the "Amalie" as the "Vikings" does not offer it. All in all, rather meager for the price. The fact that guests can bake their own waffles in the lobby during the day doesn't redeem it.
We received an upgrade for the first night, arranged perfectly. Unfortunately, the heating turned out to be difficult to regulate (too warm), and after reporting this to the reception, we were offered another apartment without hesitation—quieter and beautiful! Friendly staff and everything arranged perfectly!
I booked through Booking.com with "Enter Backpack Apartments," but no one informed me that check-in and the apartment were at a different address (a 5-minute walk down). I left my family with their luggage further up the street and went to pick up the key (since there was NO ONE at the address provided!), and that's when they told me the apartment was right next door… a complete waste of time, zero communication. It was my birthday, I had let them know, and I didn't receive anything special. They told me I had been given an "upgrade," but that wasn't true… the apartment is functional, comfortable, and well-located. The kitchen utensils are limited and in pretty bad condition (especially the pans). There's no washing machine or dryer. When you shower, water leaks everywhere. It's functional for a short stay like ours; however, the lack of communication and attention to detail didn't leave a good impression on me, especially since I also work in the hospitality industry. I don't recommend it.
