About this place Shelter Bar

Shelter Bar is listed as an LGBTQ+ bar at number 6 Rua do Diário de Notícias, one of the narrow streets of Bairro Alto, Lisbon's main late-night drinking district. Previous notes mention cheap, strong drinks and DJs at weekends, and it has a 4.7 Google rating from about 350 reviews. We don't have hours on file, and Bairro Alto bars change hands often, so check its social pages or recent reviews before you go. The area fills up after 23:00, with crowds spilling into the street; Príncipe Real's gay bars are a short walk uphill.

Disappointing egregious AI usage for marketing materials. Looks awful, very off-putting.

Spent two evenings at Shelter Bar last week. Amadeo and Sebastian were great bartenders and DJ. Made us feel comfortable and welcome. Loved the play list. Easy to chat with both locals and out of town guests. Highly recommend.

A real find on our trip to Lisbon. Great background music, louder on weekends for dancing. The atmosphere is very pleasant and safe. Everything is well-maintained, and the restrooms are clean. They have a good selection of beers and cocktails, all of which are good quality and reasonably priced. It's not overcrowded like some other places where you couldn't even move. The owners, Amadeo, Sebastián, and Joao, are incredibly kind, friendly, and above all, good people. Highly recommended for starting your afternoon or evening. A 10 out of 10 in every way.
